"Today on Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #123 we are joined by extraordinary UK singer/songwriter Jont. Jont will be familiar to fans of the movie "Wedding Crashers" which features his song "Sweetheart" over the closing credits. His deeply poetic music has also graced "Grey's Anatomy". Joining Mariam Massaro, Tom Fair, Amanda Pollock and Bob Sherwood to present several of his songs a day after completing a 10-day meditation retreat, Jont astounds with his mastery of simple words and his achingly human poetry. Jont's "Taking My Time", "Here To Stay", "Teardrops and Pennies" and "Love Gave Me A Sign" are spun into a narrative of his discovery of a daughter he never knew he had and his relocation to Halifax, Nova Scotia to be with her.
Jont also joins the Gaea Star Band for a beautiful, mystical take of Mariam's "Rialea", aa harmony-drenched, percussion-driven "Pele" and much more."

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #124 is an hour of groovy summer music and improv made just for you on a July day. With Mariam Massaro on vocals, 6- and 12- string guitars and baritone ukelele, Tom Fair on Nashville guitar and tabla and Bob Sherwood on piano, percussion and vocals, we run through liberally extended versions of Mariam's "I Saw You", "Dancing Boots", "Riding On The Waves Of Love", "Starting Over (Summer Day)". After the break we present a mystical, mysterious take of "Waves" and a wide-open reverie called "Black River Bay" that melds Mariam's alternate-tuned 12-string to a beautiful tone poem about nature. Closing the set on a high note is "In The Light Of The Silver Moon", a mysterious tale told by Mariam against the backdrop of an eastern midnight."

Angeles Arrien Ph.D. has been one of my favorite people for many years, as one of those who has been as interested in trans-cultural approaches to psychology, spirituality, and global healing. You will love some of the profound insights she shares about cultivating hope, uplifting the human spirit, and awakening our potential for collective wisdom and transformation.
Angeles Arrien, Ph.D. is a cultural anthropologist, award-winning author, educator, and consultant to many organizations and businesses. She lectures and conducts workshops worldwide, bridging cultural anthropology, psychology, and comparative religions. Her work is currently used in medical, academic, and corporate environments. She is the President of the Foundation for Cross-Cultural Education and Research. Her books have been translated into thirteen languages and she has received three honorary doctorate degrees in recognition of her work.
To me she is “Angie,” one of my mentors – who awakened in me an awareness of the importance of story, and catalyzed my writing of Deep Healing – The Essence of Mind-Body Medicine. In this conversation, we explore the value of inspiration, challenges that stretch us beyond our comfort zone, and respect. You will learn about the value of surprise, and the creative rather than the defensive approach to life.
Dr. Arrien continually refers to the traditional teachings of indigenous cultures from around the world, and the profound oneness of the wisdom that all cultures have evolved. You will love this episode.

This week’s guest, Bob Stahl, the founder and director of three mindfulness-based stress reduction programs at three medical centers in the San Francisco Bay area, shares with us his unique path into the healing profession, and what he has discovered. Two of his most beloved family members died during Dr. Stahl’s childhood, awakening in him confusion and an enduring interest – what is this thing called death that can wreak such havoc in one’s life? What does it mean, and what can we do about it?
This led him on a quest, beginning with a study of the physical process of death, then continuing with an exploration of its social, spiritual, and psychological factors. This, in time, led him to the committed practice of Buddhism and 8 ½ years in a monastery. Professionally, he found numerous applications for what he had learned, especially in the practice of (MBSR) – a most useful clinical tool developed by Jon Kabat Zinn.
Dr. Stahl will share with us the meaningful of mindfulness, the practice of being present, its relationship to stress reduction, and how it can help us overcome our self-narrative – the self-limited perspectives we have on ourselves. The Buddha, the “unconditioned one,” he explains, provides, offers, insights, that could be of great value to us moderns.
Dr. Stahl will share with us some of what he’s learned about how to approach death and, paradoxically, how these insights can help us approach life so that we can be victorious over the three enemies described by the Buddha – greed, hate, and ignorance. Finally, we will touch on the worldwide deficit of compassion our planet is now experiencing and some thoughts about what we might do about it.
Please join us for this most enlightening conversation with a remarkable ma
