Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #148 was recorded at Singing Brook Studios and features Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, crystal bowls, harp, kalimba and acoustic guitar, Bob Sherwood on piano and percussion and Craig Harris on congas. We begin with the crystal bowl piece, “Happy Solstice”, a haunting evocation on winter and ease into the warm, majestic “Feed The World” that begins with a beautiful and unusually expressive solo from Mariam on flute. Moving from stately to a propulsive, angular Afro-Cuban groove, more jazzy flute is featured from Mariam along with a bravura piano improvisation from Bob driven by Craig’s relentless beat. Mariam evokes a shifting dreamscape with her Celtic harp on “So Glad To Have Known You”, weaving a prayer of devotion. After the break Nia the cat joins Mariam at the microphone for “Something to Purr About” which then morphs into “Standing Tall”, a stately ballad featuring Mariam’s kalimba played to a steady, hypnotic backing. “Relinquish” and “You Are Peace” follow with Mariam reciting from her book “Light-Filled Love: The Divine Teachings of Ashento”. Driving to an unhinged cumbia, Craig and Bob release a wall of Carneval drums to Mariam’s narration. We conclude with Mariam’s lovely, sedate folk song “Trail Of Light”.

"Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #147 is a fast-moving series of inventions based around the writings and word-paintings of Mariam Massaro. The driving rhythm of Craig Harris' congas and Bob Sherwood's percussive, exploratory piano, led by Mariam's dulcimer and shimmering vocals build a varied, shifting soundscape for the blustery, ambitious "Calendars Come And Go" and the jazzy "Someplace Warm". "Fire In The Morning" is a mystical modal workout that stretches to the very limits of consonance before yielding to the gentle, minor "In The Stillness" featuring Mariam's driving, assertive acoustic guitar work. Craig anchors the groove into the deep earth while Bob throws glittering sheets of piano runs across the surface of this mesmeric jam until it reaches a climax that belies the lyric, fading away to congas and electronics. "Shantakiyahey" is a native workout featuring Mariam on flute and Bob joining Craig on drums. "Sparkling Stars In The Night" features more nocturnal poetry from Mariam on vocals and acoustic guitar and "Unify" is a prayer of unification for Equador's native people. We close with the mysterious minor modulations of Mariam's "Pashini The Prancing Pixie".

Awakening Consciousness~ A Conversation with Arjuna Ardagh
Arjuna Ardagh is the founder of the Living Essence Foundation in Nevada City, California, a nonprofit church dedicated to the awakening of consciousness within the context of ordinary life. He is the author of Relaxing into Clear Seeing, How About Now, The Last Laugh (a novel), and the creator of the Living Essence Tapes Series. Ardagh was educated in England, at Kings School, Canterbury, and later at Cambridge University, where he earned a master’s degree in literature. Since the age of fourteen he has had a passionate interest in spiritual awakening, and he began to practice meditation and yoga at that time. In his late teens he trained as a meditation teacher. After graduating from Cambridge, Ardagh devoted himself completely to the call he felt inside himself, and studied and lived with a number of great spiritual teachers, both in Asia and in the US. In 1987 he founded the Alchemy Institute in Seattle, Washington, and trained several hundred people in a transpersonal approach to hypnotherapy.
In 1991 he returned to India for a period of prolonged meditation and met H. W. L. Poonjaji, a direct devotee of the great sage Ramana Maharshi, with whom he went through a radical shift of perspective. After returning to Seattle, he began to share this awakened view with other people at Poonjaji’s request, facilitating a dramatic shift in awareness with thousands of people throughout the United States and Europe.
Ardagh has developed the Living Essence Training, which prepares people to be facilitators of this shift in consciousness and to cultivate translucence. He speaks at many international conferences, and has appeared on TV, on the radio and in print media in twelve countries. He also teaches the Deeper Love seminars with his Norwegian wife, Chameli Gad Ardagh.

We begin with a prayer of thanks to the year end called "Thank You" featuring Mariam on vocals and acoustic guitar, Bob on piano and Craig on C marimba. We continue with "Oh Moon, Oh Moon" with Craig moving to electronically treated congas and Mariam offering an ode to the winter moon. Next up is the peaceful, bucolic "Reaching Within" another new song from Mariam. After the break we move into an Ashento Teaching from Mariam's soon-to-be-released "Light-Filled Love: The Celestial Teachings of Ashento", accompanied by acoustic guitar and piano. The driving, ukelele-led "Step Right Up" follows featuring Mariam's vocals and tenor uke and Bob on percussion. Mariam's new "For The Children" closes the show with a lovely lilt."

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #145 presents an intimate, close song cycle played and improvised by Mariam Massaro and Bob Sherwood on a variety of instruments. We begin with Mariam’s new “Returning To Love” with Mariam on vocals and ukelele and Bob on piano. The lush, fanfare-like meditation “Light-Filled Ways” follows with Mariam vocalizing over a series of hypnotic piano figures. A prayer to a winter morning follows, another uke-and-piano folksong about the travails and challenges of snow and ice. Taking us up to the break is Mariam’s impassioned “All Life Matters”, a prayer for peace and unity in the wake of the Ferguson tragedy featuring native flute, driving percussion and bravura vocal improv. Next up we celebrate the life of Mariam’s beloved young cat Figgy who we lost in the first snow storm of the winter with a raga filled with love from both of us for this awesome little cat who we miss so much. “Rainbow Rays Of Light” follows, another raga form with Mariam on acoustic 12-string and Bob at the piano. This angular and unsettled piece comes to rest on a Mesopotamian scale and Mariam integrates the Egyptian god Amen Ra into her mysterious exposition on sunlight and spirituality. For our last piece today we integrate marimba, piano, vocals and percussion into a musical backdrop for a reading from Mariam from her book “Light-Filled Love: The Divine Teachings Of Ashento”.
