"The Gaea Star Crystal Hour # 141 begins with the dusky, mystical “How To Be Free” with Mariam Massaro on vocals and tenor ukelele, Tom Fair on Nashville acoustic guitar and Bob Sherwood on piano. We drift into Mariam’s “La Luna”, an improvisation-heavy evening ballad and then into “Powerful Weather”, a late-autumn tone poem. Next up is “All That I Am” an inspirational prayer to remaining open. After the break we present the reprise “All That I Am” as a more driving, otherworldly blues. Tom Fair brings his “Ananda Gi” floating in on modal 12-string and Nag Champa, with gossamer eastern harmonies and shimmering dulcimer from Mariam and shifting, Chinese and Hindustani scales on the piano from Bob. We segue slowly through a lovely, White Album-esque fragment from Tom to a musical station I.D. from Mariam, coming to rest on one of Mariam’s most beautiful and affecting musical mantras, “Happy I Am”, an entrancing puzzle of a song that presents a simple melody above an asymmetrical measure scheme to bewitching effect."

"The Gaea Star Crystal Hour #140 begins with the mystical, querying “Ready” with Mariam choosing an unusual pivoting key structure for her melody as she and Tom Fair lay a carpet of acoustic 12-strings and Bob Sherwood develops an intense, polyrhythmic percussion groove. We search out the intense center of the piece and find it in a double-time shift before stripping away all but the heartbeat. Next up is Mariam’s “Always The Same Inside”, an island-inflected ukelele-driven folk rock number. The floating, somber “Oh, May I Fly” follows, built around Mariam’s dueling flutes, Bob’s piano and electronics and Tom’s trancing 12-string. Overdubbed “Cloud” guitar adds a touch of uneasy sky to the climax of the piece, a tension that is broken by a backbeat from Bob and Mariam’s harmonies.
After the break we present Mariam’s “Feels Good To Know You” a reverie driven by piano and guitar electronics. A series of shifting keys and major/minor ambiguities resolve to a majestic downward motif that frames an unfolding love monologue from Mariam, spoken and sung. A Beethovenesque build from Bob on piano prepares the ending and we move into Mariam’s new “Jessabelita”, the latest entry into the gypsy song category. Following a driving gypsy jam we close with the floating, acoustic/electronic improvisation “Hello, Hello, Hello”, an affecting greeting to the newly-born. A Beatlesque double-plagal chord scheme suggests a sun always rising, of new life always being born. To the underpinning of Mariam’s steady acoustic guitar and Tom Fair’s lush electronics, Bob sets up a metronomic chordal piano figure that veers in and out of common time. One of our finer sets this year."

"On Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #139 we continue with live highlights from The Singing Bridge Performing Arts Lodge Fall Festival. Mariam begins with her songs "Dancing As A Faery" and "Yemanja, featuring Sondra LEwis on harmony vocals, Burrie Jenkins on 12-string, Tom Fair on Nashville guitar, Craig Lewis on congas and Bob Sherwood on piano and percussion. Following Mariam's numbers we feature Tom Fair's haunting "Warm Rain" and "My Hero" with Burrie Jenkins and Bob Sherwood adding improvisational grace notes on 12-string guitar and piano. Mariam's hymn "Water" follows with Bob on piano and Amanda Pollock bringing her blues vocals to this lovely, mysterious song. Burrie Jenkins returns to lead a stunning, modal piece to which the entire Gaea Star Band add their improvisational fire and vocals before returning to Mariam's "Pacha Mama" and "Isis" to close the show."
