As a fitness coach and trainer, Lora firmly believes that exercise should be the most fun part of our day. Fitness is play-time for adults and our biggest fitness challenge is finding what we love. When we love something, it's easy to fit it into our day, we succeed at whatever it is we are doing and we make progress!
Focusing on what we love and focusing on feeling healthy and fit is what matters, and when we do, weight loss and a better body are byproducts. But when we skew the focus and focus only on being a certain size or weight, the journey becomes painful, depressing and too difficult to follow.
When we tune into how we feel when we eat certain foods, it becomes easy to make the right choices. Really, we are all already diet experts; we know what makes us feel good, what makes us bloated, sluggish or tired. We just need the motivation to break out of the sugar addiction cycle once and for all.

The Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #238 consists of a series of duets between Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic 6- and 12- string guitars and dulcimer and Bob Sherwood on drums and piano. Taped at Singing Brook Studio, we begin with Mariam’s native chant “Everything You Need Is Right Inside” featuring Mariam’s plaintive and prayerful native flute and Bob’s drums. We shift to a western ballad mode with Bob moving to piano and finding his way to a bittersweet, evocative motif which Mariam decorates and defines with a series of beautiful verses and interpolations of deeply felt flute. Up next is Mariam’s “Moonlight Whispers”, a lush, psychedelic song of praise to the moon built upon Mariam’s jangling dulcimer and a series of eastern suggestions from Bob on piano. A beautiful piece of work electronically enhanced to frame Mariam’s simple, deep and reverent observations of nature.
“Right Next To You” is a romantic ballad from Mariam featuring her lush Martin 12- string acoustic guitar accompanied by Bob’s plaintive piano. “Just To Be Free” opens with an electronically woven vocal refrain from Mariam and develops into a hip 12-string and conga jam with pretty verses from Mariam. “It’s All Coming Around” is a mystical piece with a strong drive provided by Mariam’s 12-string and Bob’s angular, Chinese-scaled piano figures. Growing from the glowing embers of “It’s All Coming Around” is the spacious, modal “Just To Be Free” built on a relentless, hypnotic piano figure from Bob and Mariam’s sparkling 12-string. A deeply somber and beautiful coda presents Mariam’s always-lyrical native flute in lush relief setting the stage for a take on Mariam’s “Gather Together” that is somehow both opera and blues-based. A fine and defining vocal from Mariam closes today’s show.

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #237 is a compelling, varied, impassioned hour of improvised music and the songs of visionary songwriter Mariam Massaro and features Mariam on vocals, celtic harp, acoustic guitar, native flute, harmonica and percussion, Dameron Midgett on mandolin, acoustic guitar and didjeridoo, Craig Harris on congas and balaphone and Bob Sherwood on piano. Taping live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington MA, we begin today’s session with the magical, pastoral “Come And See My Beauty” featuring Mariam’s harp and and Bob’s stately, elegiac piano in languid dialog. Lush vocals and native flute against Craig’s double time congas provide a hypnotic coda that leads us into Mariam’s “Rise And Open To Life”, an uplifting folk number featuring Dameron on mandolin. “Another Day In Paradise” is a gorgeous, upbeat celebration of nature with fine mandolin work from Dameron and Bob’s ever-in-motion piano supporting Mariam’s visionary, meditative lyric. The ensemble swings through a bluesy instrumental and Mariam’s native flute announce the end. “Prayers To Change It All” takes us to the Newburyport Wildlife Refuge for Mariam’s meditation on the ocean at low tide. Pretty, minor and unhurried, the piece picks up momentum like a summer squall and floats into a beautiful native flute solo from Mariam. The beautiful and powerful waltz “Queen Of Heaven” brings the show to a close today with a solid, inspired performance from the band and lovely double-tracked lead vocals from Mariam.
