Cheryl Albright Soul-stirring Singer, Storyteller
Cheryl Albright is a soul-stirring singer, storyteller, playwright, performer, and producer on a mission to celebrate and remember the lives and accomplishments of African American female vocalists and their historical journeys. Her two one-woman productions OH FREEDOM OVER ME and ELLA 100! have done just that. Known for the versatility in her vocal performance and intimate, conversational style in her storytelling, Cheryl masterfully reaches a broad and diverse audience in a way that is both entertaining and educational.
OH FREEDOM OVER ME debuted in 2015 in partnership with the University of Rhode Island Urban Culture Arts Program to an audience of 275 attendees. The show earned Cheryl the 2015 Woman of Achievement Award and featured article in She Shines Magazine by the YWCA. Receiving a grant from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts (RISCA) was a special highlight for Cheryl to perform for female inmates at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections.
ELLA 100! debuted on Super Bowl Sunday 2017 to a standing room only crowd of over 300 theatergoers. It was honored as one of the Top 5 Jazz Events To See by Go Local Providence.
Cheryl is a New England States Touring Artist (NEST). With over thirty-five years of professional singing experience, she has traveled throughout the country singing at various special events featuring and honoring civil rights icons such as Ruby Nell Sales, U.S. Representative John Lewis, Dorothy Cotton, and The New York Times Magazine reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones. The Bristol Community College Reading Program asked Cheryl to produce and perform a celebration show, HALLELUJAH FOR HENRIETTA, based on their reading of the book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks written by Rebecca Skloot.
Born and raised in the foothills of North Carolina, Cheryl comes from a family of singers, musicians, and community activists. Her mother, grandmother, and the Southern Baptist Church were instrumental in exposing her to all genres of music including country-western, bluegrass, and classical. Cheryl believes that music and storytelling is a bridge builder that speaks to the matters of the heart and digs deep in the billows of one's soul.

Author, Blogger and Pet Food Advocate, Susan Thixton
Dr. Judy Morgan’s first Live interview will be with author, blogger and pet food advocate, Susan Thixton. Susan has a passion for animals that started as a child and continued as she became a skilled trainer using “kind and respectful methods”, These methods were fundamental in her boarding kennel, the very first all indoor / “all suite” pet boarding facility in the U.S. Susan’s life changed after Sam, her beloved Rottweiler, was diagnosed with and later passed away from bone cancer. After learning the probable cause was from chemical preservatives in Sam’s food, manufactured by a “trusted company”, Susan began studying pet foods, pet food ingredients, and the regulations that govern them. In addition to her blog, TruthaboutPetFood.com, she authored Buyer Beware and co-authored Dinner Pawsible. Today, Susan holds positions on two AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials – those that develop pet food regulations) committees – the Pet Food Committee and the Ingredient Definitions Committee. Susan is the ‘Caped Crusader for Safe Pet Food’ and you won’t want to miss what she has to share in our first Live episode.

Medical Intuition
There's nothing like getting the help you need, when you need it. And we can only get the right help if we get right diagnosis!
Because doctors diagnose based on our description of our own symptoms, it is imperative for us to accurately and adequately describe exactly what is happening in our bodies. In order to do that, we need to know how we feel, and we need to use our own intuition as to whether the diagnosis we receive feels accurate.
Today's show explores the role of intuition in diagnosing our health or medical concerns. Guest Kelly shares the story of her inexplicable heart condition, and her journey through several cardiologists, a multitude of testing, and finally how she and her holistic practitioner together figured out the systemic cause of her heart condition, changing the way her cardiologist tests and treats patients in the process.
The Ancient Greek aphorism "know thyself" is indeed paramount in dealing with our own health and well-being!

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Friday Jun 02, 2017
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #263 was taped at Singing Brook Studio with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar, ukulele and dulcimer, Craig Harris on congas and balaphone and Bob Sherwood on piano. We begin today with the languid, mystical prayer “I’m Grateful”, a song that weaves poetry praising every moment around a minimalist piano figure with sweeping native flute and elemental drums. “Oh Hummingbird” is built around an unusual ukulele pattern, summer poetry and an accompaniment that brings to mind a misty early summer morning. “Shalom” is a beautiful, lush song that greets the world with praise and wonder above an elemental, gospel feel. A second movement follows the great, this time leaning deeper into the gospel vibe as Mariam duets with her plaintive native flute. The last two songs are built around Mariam’s chiming dulcimer and a sure groove that grows in intensity as the music builds. “All Life Unfolds” has a psychedelic, eastern feel with an insistent low end and “Smile” carries an eldritch scent of deep forests and magical moonlit rituals.

How to Create Conversations that Matter with Juanita Brown Ph.D
Juanita Brown Ph.D. with her partner, David Isaacs is the co-originator of The World Café, a pioneering approach to large scale dialogue and collaborative inquiry being used in corporate, community, government, education, and multi-stakeholder settings around the globe. Hundreds of thousands of people on six continents have experienced the World Café to foster sustainable development, responsible business futures, conflict resol…ution, democratic leadership, and local community engagement around critical issues. Her award-winning book, The World Café: Shaping our Futures through Conversations that Matter, co-authored with her partner David Isaacs and the World Café
Community has been translated into 10 languages, and has recently been released in mainland China.
Juanita developed her belief in the power of conversation and community to shape the future through her early years at the Na-Bolom Institute, a center for dialogue and action on indigenous issues and rainforest preservation in Chiapas, Mexico. Juanita was also a key architect in large-scale community development and outreach work with Cesar Chavez and the farm workers movement. She has applied her discoveries about the principles for building engaged communities to the co-evolution of the World Café as social innovation––using both living systems approaches and community development sensibilities to engage a growing global network of multi-generational hosts committed to creating collaborative dialogue and committed action around critical local, national and global issues.
Since 1974, Juanita has collaborated as a strategic thinking partner with senior corporate executives as well as non-profit leaders in the U.S., Latin America, Canada, Europe and the Pacific Rim, advising on large scale change intiatives and creating innovative forums for strategic dialogue around critical organizational and societal issues. Juanita is a Fellow of the World Business Academy and has served as a Senior Affiliate with both the MIT Center for Organizational Learning (now the Society for Organizational Learning) and the Institute for the Future. Her greatest joy, however, is when she finds herself alone in nature on the shores of Tomales Bay, California listening to the loons and seeing the white pelicans floating quietly through the mist.
