Heather Lyn Mann: Ocean of Insight
Heather Lyn Mann was a battle–weary environmental advocate in Madison, Wisconsin, struggling over what to do about climate change when she and her husband decided to explore the Atlantic on a small sloop. This memoir of six years living afloat is a chronological unfolding of disasters and discoveries—life–threatening storms, the boredom of isolation, societies on the brink of extinction, sinking ships, colorful Caribbean characters, near collisions, a pirate scare, and more. Throughout, the ocean becomes Mann’s teacher, transforming her with uncompromising lessons on how to harmonize with natural order, the exact moments and ways to let in fearlessness, resilience, happiness, impermanence, balance, compassion, skillful action, and beginner’s mind.
Spiritual ecologist Heather Lyn Mann is a practitioner of Buddhism, sailing, and mindful advocacy. After earning a Masters in Environmental Science from University of Wisconsin's Nelson Institute, she founded and led the not-for-profit Center for Resilient Cities--an organization mobilizing inner-city residents to restore natural beauty and function in damaged neighborhood landscapes. Today, in her home community of Charleston, SC, Mann is helping launch Higher Ground--a collaborative of spiritual and thought leaders, scientists, artists, and others rising to meet our environmental crisis.

Who Am I? An Afternoon Chautauqua with David
We seem to be people living a life of birth and finally, death. What does our life mean? Who are we? Where do we come from? What is this thing I call my body? If I die what will happen to me? These are many of the deep questions philosophers have been asking since time began and are still trying to solve today. On our quest for Self-realization, we need some signposts to map our way back home. We often have many questions on our heart that we would like answered, so we can go inward and have the experience for ourselves. In this gathering with David, we join him with his community and friends in Mexico for a question-and-answer session to discuss these very subjects. Listen in as David answers questions such as: “What does the Course say about death?”, “How do I deal with the conflict of belief in having my own autonomy vs. the Spirit’s plan for me?”, and “How did Jesus transform from one body to another?” David rounds out the session by sharing about the importance of exchanging one self-concept for higher self-concepts until finally no self-concept is needed.
This recording of David Hoffmeister took place at La Casa de Milagros in Chapala, Mexico, November 28, 2017.

Today's first track is the psychedelic epic "To Begin Again", a mystical journey underpinned by a drifting rhythm of acoustic guitar, echoing piano and steady congas. "Anything You Want To Be" drifts in as a lush, spacious, futuristic ballad led by Mariam's poignant vocal, native flute and cascading harp. Mariam strums lustrous chords on her acoustic 12-string for the somber, elegiac "Taking It All Away", a powerful piece of resistance underpinned by an insistent, minimalist piano figure from Bob.
