The Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Saturday Jul 21, 2018
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #314 features the Gaea Star Band with special guest Joe Carvallo. An hour of live acoustic improv from Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, the show was taped on a hot July Day in 2018 with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar, celtic harp and ukulele, Craig Harris on congas and Bob Sherwood on piano. Today’s first piece is the sultry, expansive “Summertime Stories”, a steady climb of a song built on mesmeric piano passages from Bob and metronomic, minimalist electric guitar from Joe. Mariam’s inspired lyric embodies peace, praise and gratitude and her soaring native flute takes wing over a jazz-rock odyssey. “There’s a Reason I Live In Worthington” is a hometown folk ballad with evocative electric guitar from Joe, woven into Mariam’s lovely, plaintive melody. “We’ll Hold You All The Time” grows into a beautiful jazz waltz with an aching piano figure from Bob over Craig’s grooving congas. “Ode To The Strawberry Moon” is a flamenco-inspired summer song that grows in intensity to a Spanish piano tour-de-force from Bob. “Gather Together” is a wistful, powerful, modal take on Mariam’s song from her 2009 CD “Gaea Star Crystal: Awakening The Tribes Of Light, again in waltz time, and features a winding, insistent rhythm section.

Master Your Mind, Master Your Life, Your mind can be your ticket to heaven
Our guests today, Dianne Collins and Alan Collins make the important observation:
In our culture, we have a lot of attention on taking care of the body, and not as much focus on taking care of the mind. Yet, says, creator of QuantumThink®, Dianne Collins, the relationship with our own mind is the most intimate relationship we have.
Mind is the great manifestor, yet most of us still have not yet mastered our relationship with our very own mind.
Mind is not only thinking. Mind is what we hold in awareness, in consciousness. Everything we know of, yearn for, imagine and connect to is experienced through our very own mind. Our thoughts and the meanings we give our thoughts, our sense of the sacred, our soul’s yearnings and the spiritual heart – all this is experienced in our awareness, our mind.
In these dramatically changing times people are dealing with more stress factors than ever. Too often, we have thoughts that we don’t like or don’t want. Thoughts that don’t feel good or right, thoughts that truly don’t serve our highest good or best intentions.
Our own mind can be a source of irritation and upset – or – our ticket to heaven.
In today’s show we discuss how to establish a masterful relationship with your very own mind, as a way of life. This is based on the new video course, Master Your Mind, Master Your Life – with Dianne Collins.

Linda Noble Topf author of You Are Not your Illness: Seven Principles for Meeting the Challenge
Linda Noble Topf is the author of You Are Not your Illness: Seven Principles for Meeting the Challenge, which shows that illness, injury, or disability can not only physically alter the course of your life, but can also cause great emotional upheaval and loss of self-worth. In this remarkable and uplifting book, Linda delves deeply into her own experience to share with readers the keys to regaining emotional and spiritual wholeness. Linda believes that real healing has nothing to do with the state of the physical body, and she offers a compassionate and inspirational message—along with support, skills, and encouragement—to those who want to embrace the challenge of living successfully with illness. It is her intention to leave people transformed with more power, freedom, self expression, and peace of mind.
Linda’s second book, Wheelchair Wisdom™: Awaken Your Spirit through Adversity, shatters widespread notions of what it’s like to spend life in a wheelchair, which addresses the unique circumstances of the millions of people in wheelchairs. She wants to convey the message that lies at the heart of her convictions—that people are more than their wheelchairs, more than their disabled bodies. Wheelchair Wisdom™ bears testimony to what Linda has learned and experienced—that each of us, regardless of circumstances, can move through life with freedom in a creative and joyful way.

Cultural shifts for a world community
You are invited to explore the foundations of a new humanity—the Beauty of Being –Our Universal Heart of Compassion. The human soul is hungry for beauty, truth, and goodness.
We need to shift from individual only to collective action; from separation to interdependency. How could we shift our worldview from materialism to consciousness as ultimate reality, based on new science; and from duality to non-duality?
We will reflect on moving from polarization to oneness and transcend the ‘stuckness’ of political and social polarization today, and share our own learning using examples.

For the Love of Seniors
This is going to be a wonderful show as Dr. Judy is once again joined by her husband Hue to talk about something that each of us will experience as our pets age – life with senior pets. As you know, Dr. Judy and Hue have rescued many puppy-mill “discards” who have comfortably grown into their teens despite heart disease, arthritis and breed-specific issues to which their spaniels are predisposed. It’s no surprise that senior dogs have different care requirements than their younger counterparts and this is your chance to learn about managing their needs. At what age is your pet considered a senior? Are there breed and size considerations that affect how you treat them? Perhaps you're thinking about adopting an older rescue but unsure how to support mobility issues or even proper feeding if they have few teeth. You have only to look at the happy Breakfast with Spaniels pack to know all these concerns can be dealt with to ensure their quality of life is the best it can be. This is absolutely the show you’ll want to tune in to as Dr. Judy and Hue discuss what you can do – for the love of your seniors.

Fourth of July FREEDOM from your own Thoughts. Beliefs and Behaviors
Do you have a addictions? Before you say no, think about this:
Approximately 98% of our thoughts and beliefs are unoriginal, recycled thoughts and beliefs that we learned or absorbed from others. That means, we are addicted to our own pattern of thinking, and like any addiction, until we acknowledge that we have a problem, we are destined to continue with our own addicted patterns of thinking.
-Begin by making a list of all the roles you play in your life. Spouse, sibling, parent, child, worker, student, friend...
-Which roles are you happy and joyful in, and which roles cause you to feel friction or discomfort?
-Now, write down you beliefs about those roles. What it means to be a good wife, what it means to be a faithful friend, etc.
-Now, ask yourself the following questions:What if what I believe is true? What is the evidence to support this belief? What if what I believe is not true? and lastly, What is this really about?
By identifying and challenging our own beliefs, and by realizing that most of our thoughts are distorted by our feelings and are not supported by external facts, we can finally gain independence! Independence from our thoughts, beliefs and feelings that, in the past held us back from achieving our dreams!
