A Lifelong Love for Horses
This week, Sally is pleased to welcome Leslie Desmond, a lifelong horsewoman whose background in freelance photojournalism dovetailed well with her career in horses. At a mere 11 years of age, she was already teaching beginning riders for $50 a week at a local summer camp. Over the years, Leslie’s work with horses included caring for thoroughbreds, Arabians, quarter horses, draft horses, Iberian breeds and more, as well as working with riders from all disciplines. In 1984, Leslie and her husband started a riding stable in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and later after they relocated to California, she co-authored and published their classic training manual, True Horsemanship Through Feel, chronicling the training philosophies and techniques she now demonstrates to her students around the world. Decades later, her passion continues to grow as she dedicates her time to writing articles about horses, their care, handling and training. This is a rare opportunity to hear Leslie talk with Sally about her love for horses and what she does to help people get comfortable around them - for both competition and enjoyment. Tune in for this special show!

The Unintended Consequence of Mental Illness
Isn't it's comforting to know that if we are mentally healthy, we will never be impacted by any strange, bizarre, traumatic or sad consequences of mental illness? After all, bad things don't happen to good people, and all we have to do is stay away from crazy people, right? WRONG!
According to the World Health Organization, one in four people have a mental health disorder. This means that, like it or not, we will all be impacted by mental health issues (either our own or others) at some point in our lifetime.
Join Lora as she interviews Erin, an enlightened and intelligent young woman who spent an extremely traumatic six months in a relationship with a man with mental illness.
Erin J. Green is originally from Lexington, Kentucky, though she has also lived in other fun places such as New York and Hawai'i. Currently she is enjoying a nomadic lifestyle full of lots of road trips, and has recently made a move to share her love of traveling with the world. Professionally she has worked as a librarian and event planner, and has also dedicated a large portion of her life to the study of yoga, which inspired her social media name "The Yogi Librarian." When she is not caught up with her aforementioned activities, Erin also works as a freelance model and performance artist, a dream she recently began chasing after. She wants to encourage others to do the same and follow their passions in life that they didn't think were achievable, because you just might surprise yourself, as she surprises herself every day!

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro
Saturday Aug 04, 2018
Saturday Aug 04, 2018
Today on Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #316 the Gaea Star Band is joined by special guest Sondra Lewis on vocals and percussion. With Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, ukulele, celtic harp and native flute, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on drums and congas, the Gaea Star Band delivers an hour of visionary acoustic improvisation and songs by Mariam Massaro. We begin with the haunting tones of Mariam’s native flute on the mystical, classically hued “Hope Is Everywhere” which features a compelling vocal dialogue between Mariam and Sondra above a filigreed piano accompaniment. “Awakening” is a swirling, psychedelic, echo-drenched prayer to enlightenment and “Sweet Wind” is an ode to summer and nature full of motion and lovely melodies from Sondra and Mariam. “Salayana” is a hypnotic, jazzy water prayer with fine percussion from Sondra and Craig and mesmerizing piano from Bob. “Let’s Just All Hold Together” is a languid, folky piece with a fine, inspiring lyric from Mariam sung over her chiming ukulele. We conclude with lush, improv-heavy versions of Mariam’s songs “Spirit Of The Forest” and “Your Eyes Shine”.

Roberta Talks About the True Meaning and Message of Jesus
Roberta is both an afterlife researcher and a student of the Bible, so she may be the first person ever to discover that the dead who communicate with us now are able to validate the Gospel teachings of Jesus on love, forgiveness, the nature of God, and the meaning and purpose of human life! At the same time, the dead also tell us that nothing mainstream Christianity teaches is true. So Jesus is right, but Christianity is wrong! Let’s explore together what that means…..

The fractal to take equity and sustainability to scale
We will not be able to deliver a more just, peaceful and sustainable world, unless we realize that this requires moving away from technical solutions alone and that we need to constantly assess the values and systems that underpin our world. The human community has created injustice, conflict and unsustainable patterns, hence we have the power and duty to engage deeply to create empowering patterns for peace and prosperity.
Designing our ideas and initiatives on the conscious full –spectrum response (CFSR) creates a new pattern, a new architecture for equitable and sustainable change. CFSR is a fractal that creates large -scale change. A fractal is a pattern that repeats itself. And this pattern can be generated with ensuing results at any level, any sector, at home, at work and in society.
We will explore significant contributions made through using the CSFR fractal in many ways: for example, transforming workplace cultures, supporting youth to revisit and shift disempowering social narratives; creating multi-sectoral, multi-level platforms for decentralization of government services, supporting local leadership to prioritize and finance major services; engaging organisations to work on increase investments in adolescent girls to address patterns of inequality, deprivation and discrimination across generations.
Each and every individual has the resources and the power to make change happen – to shift systems and deliver results. This depends on our capacity to connect to our dreams, our vision, and then to shift our perspective that we are small. We are not. We have the incredible power to make significant changes. It is a matter of our personal responsibility and leadership in life.
Fallacy: Human beings are driven primarily by self-interest.
New Learning: Human beings inherently care about others, it is an integral component of our social intelligence that has enabled us to survive through thousands of years.
