Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

November 30, 2019

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #373 is an hour of visionary, varied, evocative, lush and accomplished acoustic improvised music and songs featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, tenor ukulele, acoustic 6- and 12-string guitars and percussion, Craig Harris on congas and native drums and Bob Sherwood on piano.  Recorded on an early winter day at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s show begins with the hypnotizing, magical ambience of “One With Spirit”, a steady, prayerful ballad built on a relentless groove of piano and congas and draped with lovely improvised melody and native flute from Mariam.  Beginning with a lovely flute fanfare, “Midnight Snack” is a mystical midnight meditation led by Bob’s minimalist, echoing piano and a fun message from Mariam on simple pleasures.  “I Am Happy Now” is a light and unusually pretty ballad that skips and plays to the tune of Mariam’s tenor ukulele like moonlight on the surface of a lake and “Healed By The Beauty” is a powerful, mesmerizing epic that moves through several motifs to express the beauty of the circularity of the seasons.  Mariam plays her chiming Martin 12-string acoustic to set the tone for “Dancing Fingers Of Light”, a relaxed ballad that celebrates beauty and truth with Mariam’s lush vocal and the firm and steady support of the band.  “Waves Of Life” is lush, mystical, pulsing piece with a driving rhythm and we finish today with the hushed, gentle “Potential” featuring a gorgeous vocal and native flute passages from Mariam over Bob’s classical piano motifs.

How I Found God in Everyone and Everywhere with Andrew M. Davis and Philip Clayton

Much can be gained from trailing the spiritual narratives of those who have traveled ahead of us, for the God they have found, we may never have considered. How I Found God in Everyone and Everywhere captures for a general audience the spiritual shift away from popular notions of a God “up there” and “out there” and toward immanent and inclusive understandings of a God in our very midst. It’s built around the fascinating personal journeys of a close-knit group of prominent contributors, leaders including Deepak Chopra, Richard Rohr, Rupert Sheldrake, Matthew Fox, Cynthia Bourgeault, Ilia Delio, Keith Ward and others. As these diverse spiritual memoirs testify, for many today, the spiritual journey has lead to the discovery of a divine reality that, it turns out, we already inhabit, one that encompasses us all. Sometimes called “panentheism,” this relational and participatory vision is allowing for a “return to God after God” and thus a continuation of the spiritual journey. This God is not found in some people and some places, but in everyone and everywhere.

Andrew M. Davis is a philosopher, theologian and scholar of world religions. A native of northern California, he was born and raised among the towering redwoods of Occidental and the meandering woodlands of Santa Rosa’s Bennett Valley. It was out these natural settings that his passion for the questions of philosophy, theology and religion first emerged. Since these early years, he has pursued nothing short of an adventure of ideas. He holds degrees in Philosophy/Theology and Interreligious Studies and is currently perusing his Ph.D. in Religion at Claremont School of Theology with emphases in Process Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Christian Theology and Comparative Religion. An educator and advocate of cross-cultural knowledge and religious literacy, his studies have led him to a variety of religious contexts and communities around the world. He has received the 2013 Award for Excellence in Biblical Studies, a 2017 fellowship with FASPE (Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics) and is author and editor (with Philip Clayton) of “How I Found God in Everyone and Everywhere: An Anthology of Spiritual Memoirs” (Monkfish, 2018). Among his many pastimes are reading, music, hiking, and conversing over cappuccinos at local coffee shops in the Claremont and larger Los Angeles area.

His research focuses on biological emergence, religion and science, process studies, and contemporary issues in ecology, religion, and ethics. He is the recipient of multiple research grants and international lectureships, as well as the author of numerous books, including The Predicament of Belief: Science, Philosophy, Faith (2011); Religion and Science: The Basics (2011); Transforming Christian Theology: For Church and Society (2009); and In Quest of Freedom: The Emergence of Spirit in the Natural World (2009). He also edited The Oxford Handbook of Religion and Science (2006).

In books and lectures, Clayton works to formulate constructive theological responses to developments in contemporary science and philosophy. He has also been a leading advocate for comparative theology and the internationalization of the science-religion dialogue. As P.I. of the “Science and the Spiritual Quest” program and as Provost of a multi-faith university, he worked to expand these fields to include Muslim and Jewish scholars, the Dharma traditions of India, and the religious traditions of Southeast Asia.

Story Walking Radio Hour Host, Wendy Nadherny Fachon Talks About Empowering Young People, Sustainable Awareness, Ideas and Creativity

You’re in for a treat ...WE GIVE THANKS EVERY DAY!

We Welcome ...Creative… Sensible… solutions. Let’s engage with Earth… with Spirit… and with one another… heart to heart… to solve problems and co-create more meaningful life stories with Wendy Fachon,  Host of the Story Walking Radio Hour is a part of D7RN's Sustainability Regeneration & Green platform shows...

Heart to Heart ... Debara & Wendy's conversation brings about a whole new shift spiritual awareness for your walk and invitation to your story and life's journey ...

Story Walking Radio Hour Host, Wendy Nadherny Fachon empowers young people, by showing how to step forward into each new life learning adventure with clarity, confidence and positive energy. Wendy began her youth work training in the school of life by observing and listening to her own daughter and son as they faced the challenges of growing up with bullying, fickle friends, and tough teachers. When her nephews, aged 5 and 7, lost their father on 9/11, she joined the boys and her sister on their bumpy journey along the road to recovery from deep trauma and upheaval.

As Wendy’s children grew into their independence, she entered into youth work and earned her RIPQA certification, Rhode Island’s 21st Century Community Learning Center program quality training. At the same time, she joined a holistic community, which informed and inspired her Story Walking practice, and in 2011, Wendy created a lyrical Storywalker CD, Fiddlesticks, to introduce the concept of Story Walking to children and parents. Wendy’s stories and associated lessons combine mindful walking, word play, environmental education and spirituality to nurture the personal development of her followers. From there, Wendy began leading programs for in-school and out-of-school-time (OST) enrichment.

One of her first youth work assignments was to form an after-school walking club to help an unusually obese child get more physically active, make friends, and increase self-esteem. At the core of the Story Walking practice is the concept that each individual is the main character in his or her own unique life story, holding the power to weave the fabric of that story through the conscious energetic choices of words, thoughts, intentions and actions, elicited in response to both fortunate and unfortunate situations. Inevitably, each story becomes an important piece of the great storied tapestry of humanity.

In 2014, Wendy published her Storywalker children’s book, The Angel Heart. Dedicated to her late father, this poetic story presents a metaphor for finding the peace, love and joy within ourselves when confronted with sadness, loss and grief.

In 2016, Wendy’s faced the unimaginable, when her 19-year-old son, Neil, was diagnosed with DIPG, an aggressive, rare, inoperable form of the brain stem cancer. Doctors said he would be dead within three months. Neil’s story was an epic battle on multiple fronts, where he rose above overwhelming adversity to outlive his prognosis enough to create a lasting impact on the world, before finally departing from his physical body. His story continues beyond his passing, as his spirit guides Wendy and the rest of his family in finding ways to bring greater hope and joy to children experiencing life threatening illnesses and other challenges. After a year of caregiving and a time of intense grief, Wendy was guided back to her Story Walking practice with a higher sense of purpose and seeks to expand her practice through the Story Walking Radio Hour.

Affiliated with The Empowerment Factory, Wendy is recognized for her creative collaboration with many youth-focused organizations and Title I schools. She is also a regular contributor to Natural Awakenings healthy living magazine, writing articles about children, health, and environmental issues.
