HOUR 1
Gratitude Does A Body Good --Carolyn Dean MD ND
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Tonight on Dr. Carolyn Dean live we’ll be joined by specially appointed Gratitude Panel, individuals who have purposed to use gratitude as a tool for improving mood, health, relationships, prosperity, and well-being.
The benefits of practicing gratitude are nearly endless. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems.
Psychologically, gratitude improves your ability to experience positive emotions, brings you optimism and life satisfaction. But beyond your mood, it’s also good for your body– numerous studies have suggested that gratitude strengthens the immune system, lowers blood pressure, encourages you to exercise more and sleep more deeply.
Gratitude improves your relationships with others and also with your body. Writing brief reflections on moments and people for whom we are thankful significantly increases well-being and life satisfaction. Gratitude for your body improves your relationship with every single cell in your frame. By just considering the body functions you take for granted, you can easily flip that to gratitude and feel your joy ascend!
Tonight on Dr. Carolyn Dean LIVE we'll talk with our Specially Appointed Gratitude Panel about how about how Gratitude Does A Body Good along with a wide range of health topics and safe solutions. Top Tips For Managing Depression & Anxiety – with Tracey Maxfield
November’s theme is Gratitude & Grace. Gratitude is always important, but it is especially so during difficult times. Right now, everything is difficult! Join me every Wednesday, all November long, and learn exactly what to do to make yourself feel better, look better, and find the peace you crave, so you can enjoy the holidays – maybe even more than you have before!
Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicide are on the rise brought on by the global pandemic, as well as by the natural disasters, social injustices, political, and personal stressors. While we are all in this together to a certain extent, those with a genetic predisposition to are struggling even more. Add in the fact that disinformation and conspiracy theories are at an all time high, and it’s enough for even the most mentally healthy person to sink into despair. This show will give your hope, healing, and practical tips to make yourself – or those you care about – feel better.
Top take-a-ways:
Reactive depression vs. genetic depression and how sometimes strategies that worked for genetic depression are not enough in the face of catastrophe.
The power of journaling, and how to release your deepest fears.
You are not alone. Manage the uncertainty one day, one moment, or one zoom call at a time.
Embrace each day as it comes, make right nowthe best it can be, given the tools you have, stop focusing on what may happen, and focus on what is right in front of you.
Understand the power of words, and the human tendency to remember the negative above the positive.
On August 20, 2015, after enduring years of intense workplace stress, bullying and harassment, Tracey Maxfield, a hard working, highly skilled, caring and compassionate nurse, hurtled headfirst down into an abyss of darkness, despair, pain and sorrow (she affectionately named the rabbit hole). Despite being no stranger to depression having made its acquaintance many times throughout the years, nothing could have prepared her for what was about to happen to her life, her heart, her soul, her very being.
Escaping the Rabbit Hole: my journey through depression is a brutally honest, raw, and vivid description of what life is like after experiencing an acute depressive episode. Through a series of blog posts, journal entries and a letter to self, Tracey shares the excruciating emotional and physical pain she endured, the never-ending feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness and sadness which left her inert and unable to function, and her ongoing battle against DBS (death by suicide). Every single day, she had to make a choice, to fight the battle to live, or to surrender and die. She chose to live, and so began her most difficult and challenging life journey yet, to try and escape the rabbit hole.
This book is a must read for anyone living with depression or caring for someone with depression, and for anyone who wants to know more about this greatly misunderstood mental health illness. Tracey shows us that words can be powerful and healing, and with time, it is possible to emerge from the rabbit hole of darkness and despair and reclaim your life. This is a story of courage, of hope, and of never giving up. https://traceymaxfield.com/

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Thursday Nov 19, 2020
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #419 was recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, MA, in November of 2020 and is an hour of visionary improvisational music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar and ukulele, Robin Rooney on djimbe and vocals, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Today’s first piece is the uplifting folk round “Feel The Goodness Rising” featuring a driving drum section from Craig and Robin and an inspiring lyric from Mariam. Next up is the swirling, mystical “Come Let’s Fly Away”, an intoxicating, surreal tone poem with an imaginative lyric from Mariam and portentous piano from Bob. “The River Soothes My Mind” is a lush ballad decorated with an unusual, compelling piano figure from Bob and gorgeous native flute fanfares from Mariam, and “In The Silence Of The Silvery Night” is a beautiful minor exploration that grows in intensity until it releases in a powerful native groove. Mariam plugs in her dulcimer for the classic “All Life Unfolds”, here given a driving, powerful rendition with muscular percussion and quick, nimble piano. “May We Embrace Every Moment” closes today’s show and is a bittersweet, ancient sounding dulcimer air decorated by Bob’s Bach quotations on the piano.

Healing From Within with Sheryl Glick

Thursday Nov 19, 2020
Sheryl Glick host of Healing From Within Interviews Dr. John J. Miller to discuss what has become a threatening epidemic in modern day time: rising levels of diseases we had thought to be eradicated or at least under control. we will learn about the Measles Epidemic happening in the United States and other parts of the world and highlight how international travel and unvaccinated populations all over the world are a source for infection and what we need to know in order to hopefully protect our children and ourselves. We can acquaint ourselves with greater awareness of the symptoms and ways the disease is being contracted and spread, as well as what to do if you or your children should develop symptoms. U.S. measles cases in 20-19 have climbed to their highest level in 25 years in a resurgence largely attributed to misinformation that is turning parents against vaccines. New York City health officials recently reported 61 new cases pushing this year’s nationwide tally past the 667 cases reported for all of 2014. That would make 2019 the worst year for measles since 1994. What is causing the outbreak? Just how dangerous is this disease? And what do parents and others need to know? With us today to discuss the measles epidemic and answer these questions is author and pediatrician John J. Miller. https://heymiller.com/about/
