Find Your Purpose and Ignite Your Creativity with Diana Rowan
December, the last month of the craziest year any of us have probably ever experienced. How can you close out 2020 and “Sparkle All Season” with joy, gratitude, enthusiasm, and satisfaction despite everything that’s going on? Join my free challenge at www.SparkleAllSeason.com and listen in all month long to find out how!
Since the dawn of time, humans have asked the question, “What makes a good life?” And since the dawn of time, humans have struggled to find the answer. Harpist, creative alchemist, and author of The Bright Way - Five Steps to Freeing the Creative Within shares her wisdom on activating your purpose and creativity so you can live your purpose.
Top take-a-ways:
How to find your true purpose, not just your next, short-lived obsession.
The difference between a goal and an intention.
Creating a practicum plan that works for your learning style.
Diana Rowan is a Creative Alchemist and founder of the Bright Way Guild, an academy dedicated to activating the creative within each of us. The classical inquiry of “what makes a good life?” has driven Diana from her youngest years. Recovered from a soul-crushing case of stage fright and other challenges, Diana believes that by shining light on the darkness we fear, we each become courageous purveyors of bright knowledge and can live a good life.
Diana was born in Dublin, Ireland to college student parents, setting the stage for a lifetime of lively learning and seeking. Soon thereafter, her father became a diplomat, taking his family on a cosmopolitan worldwide pilgrimage. Respect for the arts is second nature in Diana’s family, along with a deep streak of mysticism embodied by her astrologer mother. This unusual combination of intellectual seeking, cultural bridging, mystical openness and artistic engagement are the hallmarks of Diana’s life, whether that be while composing music, teaching, writing, or choosing a wine.
Diana holds an MM in classical piano performance and a PhD in Music Theory. Her book The Bright Way: Five Steps to Freeing the Creative Within released March 2020 from New World Library.

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Thursday Dec 10, 2020
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #422 was recorded live in December, 2020 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, and is an hour of live visionary musical improvisation featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, ukulele and acoustic guitar, Robin Rooney on djembe, vocals and percussion, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Today’s first piece is the somber, mysterious ballad “Alaymayatia”, a deeply mystical song with an inspired vocal from Mariam and a series of dancing piano ostinatos from Bob. This hypnotic tone poem moves through a series of compelling movements before yielding to the equally misty “For The Grace”, a gorgeous night ballad praising the Golden Red Star in the southern sky. “I Am the Silver In The Moonlight” is a gentle, open, ballad with a deeply generous spirit with Light Language from Mariam, pretty nature sounds from Robin, a steady, grounded groove from Craig and hypnotic, compelling piano motifs from Bob. “Shamiyaya” is a full, spirited take on the reggae song from Mariam’s upcoming “Release” album, and we finish the show today with “Grandmother Moon”, a funked-up, driving afro Cuban jazz piece with classical underpinnings and excellent, racing flute from Mariam and exciting percussive piano from Bob.

Offsetting Schools' Paper Usage, One Tree At a TimeGuests: Lizzy Elsner and Sethu Odayappan, Co-founders, Tree-PlenishTree planting is a natural solution to mitigating climate change. Cities, constructed vast areas of hard impermeable surfaces, have given rise to the urban heat island effect, creating significantly warmer temperatures than in surrounding suburban, rural and forested areas. Impoverished urban areas are the most severely affected by the urban heat island effect. This episode begins with a walk through a city school neighborhood, observing the beginnings of urban revitalization and exploring the many benefits derived from the planting of trees. Then our guests, Lizzy Elsner and Sethu Odayappan, Co-founders of Tree-Plenish, will talk about their environmental organization. Tree-Plenish works with schools to offset paper usage by planting trees their communities. Schools consume a lot of paper. Student leaders determine how much paper their school uses on an annual basis, and they calculate the number of trees required to produce that much paper. Then students plan an event, with the goal of planting a target number trees to replenish the amount of paper used.Elsner and Odayappan will share the story about how they started Tree-Plenish as high school seniors in their home town of Mansfield, MA, how they expanded their team and how they are now leveraging the power and passion of students across the country to create far-reaching and meaningful environmental change. Elsner is a sophomore at the University of Vermont, studying Early Childhood Special Education with a Speech Therapy Certificate. Odayappan is a sophomore at Harvard College, studying Economics and Statistics. The Tree-Plenish story is a wonderful example of students balancing their academic studies with groundbreaking environmental activism and social change-making.INFORMATION RESOURCES

Three Men, Six Lives: Bernie Siegel, MD
Dr. Bernie Siegel broke new ground with his monumental book Love, Medicine and Miracles. Today Bernie continues to impart wisdom about the true nature of life and love in his entertaining and enlightening debut fiction novel Three Men, Six Lives. A grand adventure born of Bernie's experience of his current and past lives awaits you. When three conflicted men search for deeper meaning in their lives, through their sometimes painful and amusing explorations they discover there are no coincidences: • Jon Hokmah, an empathetic psychotherapist who comes to accept the fact that he became a therapist because of his own problems. • George Dingfelder, a stressed-out Jewish physician with a name longer than his lean body, a nervous smile, photographic memory, and a tendency to talk too much and fantasize even more. • Carmine Birsamatto, an Italian crime boss who doesn't deny he's a racketeer but makes it clear he's not a thug.
Dr. Siegel, who prefers to be called Bernie, not Dr. Siegel, was born in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Colgate University and Cornell University Medical College. He holds membership in two scholastic honor societies, Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha and graduated with honors. His surgical training took place at Yale New Haven Hospital, West Haven Veteran’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He retired from practice as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at Yale of general and pediatric surgery in 1989 to speak to patients and their caregivers. He has written numerous books.
