What’s Up? Salvation. How? Peace of Mind - A New Years commentary on the new movie Don’t Look Up!
Jesus says in A Course in Miracles that the learning of the workbook is not cumulative, so if you can get one lesson, you got them all. If you can get one lesson completely, you've just graduated from the course and found peace of mind, the happy dream. So really, on this New Years day we are dealing with lesson number one; "Nothing I see means anything," it's an opportunity to go for the direct shot of God, and some of you know, that, the question is asked Jesus, "Can God be reached directly?" And his answer is, "Yes." So that means we're not going for a substitute. We're not going for a delay. We're not going for a bypass. We're not going for, as The Beatles said, the long and winding road. We like the word "direct." "12 Dates of Christmas" - a Christmas Movie Wake Up Talk by David Hoffmeister
We've been trying to get it right in time and space, thinking that we already know what's right. Time and time again we think we have a problem and we also think we already know what the problem is. Any stressful situation is a way to try to define the problem in terms of form. You're sure it's a financial problem or an interpersonal relationship problem or that we have a pollution problem, a pandemic problem, or an overpopulation problem, fill in the blank. But Jesus and the Holy Spirit are telling us, that the problem is not in form. The form is a reflection of what you believe. You think you're something that you are not. That you are other than the Holy Christ and that's the real problem. Assuming you have an identity apart from God's perfect love and light, that's the problem, and this movie will help us see that.

The Birth of Holiness and a Tabula Rasa state of mind with David Hoffmeister and Frances Xu
A Course in Miracles is about learning the principle of the miracle and then transferring it to the specifics of your daily life. So we love to be practical. Jesus says in the Course that there is no world apart from what you think, and then he goes so far as to say there is no world period. So that gives you an idea of how deep the hallucination is. So first of all, if I'm seeing something that's not even there, that's a predicament. And then if I'm categorizing and judging this thing that's not even there and feeling all bent out of shape with all kinds of emotions, about this hallucination that's not even there, then I need to start to be practical and learn to listen to the guidance and be intuitive. And that's what Tabula Rasa and this online retreat are all about."

The Dismantling of the Self-concept - Commentary by David Hoffmeister to the movie ‘Sweet November’
The movie ‘Sweet November’ is a relationship movie and David’s movie workshop commentary reflects that. He says: “Jesus uses the symbol of relationships and A Course in Miracles for healing. He tells us, your brother is the mirror in which you see the reflection of yourself as long as perception last. While you're asleep and dreaming, your brother and your sister will always be a reflection of what's in your mind. Your brother and your sister shows you the content of your consciousness. That is important. Because if you don't want to be a victim, you have to start to become aware of the judgment or attack thoughts in your own mind. If you don't want to feel at the mercy of an external world, you have to start to realize that everyone that you meet or even think of, is simply a pictorial representation of what you believe you are. So if you believe you're human, then you will see everyone else as human as well. But you should feel gratitude towards your brother, because without your brother or sister the opportunity to realize the truth would be quite delayed. If you allow the Holy Spirit to use relationships, for forgiveness, which is to realize that there's only one of us. That there's only ever been one of us. Then to the extent that we believe in the other we need to forgive that perception.”

David: "The Tabula Rasa way of life is our way of life now, that's how we are living our life. And so, if we do look rather clueless and innocent, then that's a good sign 😊."

Truly, I feel this awakening journey is a journey to come back to a very humble and very honest place; to say that I do not know anything. I do not know what the world is for. How to Trust the Holy Spirit - Commentary by David Hoffmeister for the movie “Solaris"
"In today's movie workshop, we're calling on Jesus and the Holy Spirit to take us through the temptations of the ego. Beyond the darkness and all the shadows of this world. And we are joining in piercing the ego's veil together, and open our hearts to experience, pure love. That is our prayer.”
"We're going to explore how the principle of all that I give is given to myself and that the principle of giving and receiving is the same. We're going to do it through a space journey in which a space station is marooned very close to a planet, who's name is Solaris. 'Solar' means light, and 'is' means is. So "Light is" is the main theme of the movie or "God is" like Jesus says in the workbook, "we say, God is, and then we cease to speak." Rest in Silence & Let Your Self Be Guided by God - Spiritual Movie Commentary by David Hoffmeister, ACIM
"At one point, Jesus uses a metaphor in the Course, where he says, you have these fallen leaves from the trees landing on a stream, and the leaves float down along the river stream, and Jesus says; Come with me, sink beneath the leaves, sink down underneath the leaves with me into the Kingdom of Heaven.” It's a beautiful metaphor for going into stillness, and that's really our purpose. We're going into a cloistered community, meaning we're going into a deep mystical experience together that some have called mysticism. We will still be broadcasting and sharing from this beautiful state of mind, but the actual state is beyond words. Healing Your Mind "Words on Bathroom Walls" Spiritual Movie Commentary with David Hoffmeister, ACIM
All the characters, you're looking at in the world are part of a mental schizophrenic state, and the sleeping mind, who believes in the ego, is definitely schizophrenic. The ego is generating people, and characters that aren't really here.
Most people are freaked out by schizophrenia because of the imaginary characters that aren't really here but LISTEN, we're all dealing with this every day. There are 7 billion imaginary characters that have been generated by the ego, just on planet Earth alone, running around in the ego-mind. They're all just generations of beliefs and thoughts that the ego made up.
So the human condition is schizophrenic by nature and the movie "Words on Bathroom Walls" is going to help us deal with this today because this movie like the movie "A Beautiful Mind" will really bring it home, of what it's like to deal with dark thoughts, to deal with an unconscious mind, to deal with all these characters that aren't really here and deal with all the emotions that come up when we perceive these characters."

Loop Out of the World with David Hoffmeister
Why is Groundhog Day such a fantastic movie? It's because it shows us a loopy world. Why is that a benefit? It's because we can see that some of the errors we seem to go through are based on our outlook on the world. History wouldn't exist if you didn't keep making the same mistake in the present, says Jesus in A Course in Miracles, so we need to know what we are doing in the present moment that generates time because we want to get out of time into an experience of peace.
Phil, our main character in Groundhog Day, feels very trapped in time, but the ego doesn't want us to see that it's time in itself that is the problem because it wants us to think we have financial problems or physical issues. It wants us to know that we have relationship problems, interpersonal problems. It wants us to see we have survival issues, but what is it in my mind that feels so guilty that I would keep projecting out repeated scenarios and situations that are projections of guilt. Jesus tells us that the one thing you never really accepted as the cause of all these projected problems is your guilt. You fell asleep. You dreamed in secret that you were separate from God, and then you projected out a world that would convince you that you were separated. A world where there seem to be external causes that confronts you every day. The ego made the dream to convince you that the dream is the cause, and you as a human being are at the effect of the dream, that you are at the mercy of something outside of your mind, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Trusting in Divine Providence - Brother Sun, Sister Moon Movie Commentary by David Hoffmeister
In this talk from the movie workshop ’Brother Sun Sister Moon” David Hoffmeister talks about Divine Providence and the nature of a mystical community, "...there is a presence providing for you, even with the needs that you believe you have...Divine providence is in mind, and once you come close to that principle you start to realize that really everyone is living in divine providence, but they believe otherwise. It's a divine principle that comes from the Holy Spirit. So everyone is equally accessible to the principle."
"In the movie St Francis of Asisi is following his calling and after his awakening, a mystical community begins to form around him. At first, it is just him, walking out of the gates of Assisi naked in front of his parents, and the entire city with arms wide open, Like here I am Lord. That's the kind of faith it takes to follow God. To say, I would hold nothing before you God, I give away my ideas of possession, of control, of ownership, of being right, of superior-inferior thinking. All of that, with arms wide open, I give it all to you. Take it from me. And that is the start of what we could call a mystical community", says David.
