Your Food, Cancer and How to Confront Inflammation Nation~ A Conversation with Dr. Sunil Pai
Dr. Pai says that although what you eat may not cause cancer, what you eat can determine whether or not your body will support the growth of cancer. He says how you handle stress has a direct effect as well. He says you can heal many illnesses and sustain your health through eating a non—inflammatory diet. Dr. Sunil Pai is an unusual man.
Sunil Pai, M.D., is a physician, a Medical Doctor, Board Certified in Holistic Integrative Medicine. He did a residency in Family Medicine, is a fellow of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona (Class 2002) directed by Dr. Andrew Weil, has been certified by Dr. Deepak Chopra as a Primordial Sound Meditation Instructor and a Creating Health (Ayurveda Lifestyle) Instructor. That’s in addition to his being certified in Functional Medicine, Physiological Regulating Medicine, Medical Acupuncture and Scalp Acupuncture through Stanford University School of Medicine.
And he says we now have experimental proof and a biological understanding of why sustaining your health through a non-inflammatory diet is important. His new book, Inflammation Nation, is fully annotated with valid scientific studies that support his claims. For instance, the studies on tumor cells growing in the laboratory that showed that when they were exposed to casein, the chief protein molecule in milk, the cells grew ten times faster, and when it is removed, the tumors gradually slow their growth.
In this show we will focus on the process of inflammation, how it can help us, and how it can harm us. Inflammation is at the base of illnesses from colitis, to heart disease, from arthritis to pink eye. You will learn how choosing the right foods can balance the inflammatory reactions in your body, and why it makes good sense to choose anti-inflammatory supplements.

Smile of Hope, An Arab Woman’s Compassionate Initiative ~ A Conversation with Zeina Abdo
On my recent journey to Dubai, I had the fortune of coming across a truly beautiful, inspiring – even electrifying woman. When I discovered Zeina Abdo had been the first Arab woman to reach the summit of Imja Tse Island Peak 20305ft (4 miles) high in an effort to raise funds for pediatric cancer patients in Nepal, I knew I wanted to have a conversation and learn more about her. One of the most difficult lessons was that people find it hard to see the truth – they spend most of their time making themselves unhappy and making others unhappy – but blame it on the world. The truth is that we do have the power to change our world, to take care of those who are needy, to find personal happiness. It is a happy day in your life, indeed, and to find our personal mission. In spite of the abuse and the pain in her own life, Zeina saw there was a greater need – and out of nowhere, decided to create a special program for the truly poor. In this conversation I ask what it is that empowers her to do what she does in spite of the risks and resistances. I think you will find that she is one of those who is fully in the process of awakening to her potential and that she can serve as an inspiration to us all Listen to her story, hear her with your heart, see the work she is doing on a shoestring (http://smile4hope.org ), and give her a little help (http://smile4hope.org/donations ).

The World of a Medical Intuitive~ A Conversation with David Mackenzie
David Mackenzie is a medical intuitive – a profession you may be unfamiliar with. He will describe to us what that’s about, and as well, share with us some valuable lessons he has learned in his experiences there, as well as in his serving as a consultant to corporations, and as a professional photographer with Logue, Bazaar, and Architectural Digest.
A serious wakeup call in his life occurred when he had a stillborn child. This led him to a larger calling to serve the people and help them to discover buoyancy in life. He’s done extensive work teaching people with cancer, diabetes, and other major chronic illnesses how to not only avoid stress, anxiety and depression, but be buoyed up by their experiences. He teaches the same skills to companies and businesses.
You will be fascinated by this very intelligent presentation by a man who feels he is serving a sacred calling, as he discusses the tyranny of time, and how to drop the trap of the clock, and how to live life with presence . . . even unto a graceful death. He will also share some of what is available at his website, wisdomrx.com

Full-Spectrum Wellness ~A Conversation with John W. Travis, MD, MPH
John W. Travis, MD, MPH, completed his medical degree in Boston and a residency in general preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He subsequently founded the first wellness center in the US (Wellness Resource Center, Mill Valley, CA, 1975) and is founder and co-director of Wellness Associates, a not-for-profit educational foundation, as well as the author of the Wellness Inventory Online (wellpeople.com), and the Wellness Workbook (thewellspring.com). Realizing in 1991 that how we raise children has far more influence on their later wellness than other any factors in our lives, he expanded the focus of his work to include infant wellness. Along with Meryn and eleven world experts in birth and child development he co-founded The Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children (aTLC.org), which fosters individual and planetary wellness through changing the norms of how babies are born and treated in their early years. During the last decade, he has focused on bringing together all aspects of wellness within the concept of Full-Spectrum Wellness, where the focus is on interconnectedness, both throughout all the stages of the human development, from conception to death, and within all levels of the environment around us—from inside our skin to the whole planet. He summarizes 36 years in the wellness field with the expression: “The currency of wellness is connection.” He lives with Meryn and their daughter, Siena (16) in Mullumbimby, New South Wales, Australia.

An Inspiring Conversation with Janaia Donaldson
Janaia Donaldson is the host and producer of “Peak Moment Conversations: Locally Reliant Living for Challenging Times.” This online bi-weekly internet television series highlights constructive responses to climate chaos, resource decline, and economic hard times through local community action. Peak Moment TV has nearly 200 programs online, which are also cablecast on about two dozen community-access TV stations nationwide.
Concerned for the effects of peak oil and climate change, in 2006 Janaia and videographer partner Robin Mallgren sought models among grassroots entrepreneurs working to create a sustainable future. In summer 2006 they climbed into their Vanagon camper, visited over 20 West Coast communities, and taped more than 90 Peak Moment Conversations. The shows include tours of backyard gardens, natural buildings, and eco-villages. Janaia also discusses timely topics with thinkers like David Korten on “The Great Turning”, Richard Heinberg on “Peak Everything,” and Carolyn Baker on “Navigating the Coming Chaos.”
In fall 2010, Janaia and Robin traveled to the Pacific Northwest between Oregon and Vancouver Island in their mobile studio. They taped more than 80 shows with people creating community gardens, tool sharing libraries, bicycle-powered appliances, and local investment circles. They were inspired by many ordinary heroes and heroines who care deeply for their local place, for the planet and for future generations, and who are quietly shaping a new story for living lightly on the earth. Janaia and Robin live and work in the Sierra Nevada foothills in an off-grid home on 160 forested acres which they have protected from development with conservation easements. In previous lives, Janaia has been a Layerist painter; a self-employed graphic designer and illustrator; co-founder, coordinator and instructor in the University of California Extension Graphic certificate program; and a user interface designer for illustration software at Xerox.

Another Amazing Conversation with ‘Co-Intelligence’ Founder Tom Atlee
The term “co-intelligence” refers to a shared, integrated form of intelligence that we find in and around us when we’re most vibrantly alive. It is also found in cultures that sustain themselves harmoniously with nature and neighbor. Co-intelligence shows up whenever we pool our personal intelligences to produce results that are more insightful and powerful than the sum of our individual perspectives.
Tom Atlee is founder, co-director, and research director of the non-profit Co-Intelligence Institute. His work focused on developing a society’s capacity to function as a wise democracy. Especially he explores the dynamics of Conscious evolution of social systems. His social change vision is based on wholeness and recognizes the value of diversity, unity, relationship, context, uniqueness and the spirit inside each of us and the world. In this intelligent and stimulating conversation, we will explore some of the ways we might, with collective intelligence, respond wisely to the challenges coming our way in the economic collapse our culture seems committed to. We will explore some of the ways we can use the elements of the crumbling system to evolve a new one that can serve humanity better. Individual and collective intelligence must evolve together, Tom points out – otherwise we could end up with another system like the present one that punishes diversity.
Ten thousand years ago human beings evolved a set economic, communication, and governance structures that have not changed. But the world has changed dramatically (e.g., we live in cities of thousands and millions instead of scattered tribes of hundreds). The systems that were good for responding to the news that Mary fell into the well are grossly inadequate to respond to challenges like global climate change and the accumulation of toxic wastes in our environment and in our bodies.
Conscious, as Tom points out, creates social systems, and social systems create consciousness – so we need to discover what changes need to be made in our consciousness in order to evolve the systems we need. To deal with the problem of sick children, a medical team is only part of the answer – we need to deal with the poverty, war, and pollution that are part of the system that is creating them. Instead, we sit riveted as Siamese twins are flown to the US to be separated – and leave untouched the toxic wastes flowing into their community creating ongoing deformities. Collective Stupidity!
Public wisdom is what we need, and it comes from diverse views in conversation (as opposed to our current Congressional food fights). We need access to the full spectrum of information – this is the key to Collective Intelligence. Our individual uniqueness is needed to enhance the collective, and the collective to enhance the individual. How different from the stupidity of our current culture of groupthink! Check out this illuminating and inspiring conversation. There is a growing community, local and online, of people who recognize that we need to be building for the future. Learn more here and at the Co-intelligence Institute website, which offers more than 1000 pages of fascinating free resources.
