Dr. Miller's HT Radio Personal Growth Through Loss and Letting Go:
This extraordinary era has brought anxiety, fear, and real loss to most of us. Often we try to deny our emotions, or we get stuck in sadness, depression, frustration, or tense anxiety. Nobody likes to lose! Whether it is a prized possession, a job, money, a physical or mental ability, or a loved one. Yet life is filled with losses, and we must lose everything before we leave the world. Grief hurts, but we can grow through healthy grieving and releasing that which we no longer have. In this live webinar we will explore how to do this and experience a guided imagery meditation to embody the principles of accepting change and moving on.
This webinar was originally recorded live on May 1st, 2020

Coronavirus, Information Pollution, and a Simple Solution – Conversation with Professor Rick Roth
We are aware of the pollution of our air, water, and ocean, but there is an even more important one, Information Pollution. The latest symptom is the COVID-19 epidemic which has become a pandemic that could easily have been stopped in its tracks. Information has been weaponized to intentionally manipulate people’s unconscious minds to make them believe false information to benefit ‘them’ and not us. Twitter deleted one million fake people last month, and there are millions more dividing and conquering us.
In this fascinating conversation, Dr. Rick Roth, noted Psychologist and brilliant Artificial Intelligence guru will show us exactly how we are being duped and reveal a new internet extension (available now) that can filter out the bots, shills, and trolls that rule the internet now, to create honest, authenticated, information and data from real, known human beings.
Listen. This is important information, our future depends on it!

Spontaneous Violence and The Hero Project, A Conversation with Dr. Phil Zimbardo
Dr. Zimbardo became world famous as a result of his startling “Stanford Prison Experiment,” in which he randomly assigned psychologically normal college students to play the role of either prisoners or guards. Within a few days the two groups became more and more violent with each other – so much so that it became necessary to stop the experiment in 6 days instead of the planned 14 days.
In this intriguing conversation we review the startling details of this study. Zimbardo has conducted research for some years on deindividuation, vandalism and dehumanization that illustrated the ease with which ordinary people can be led to engage in anti-social acts by putting them in situations where they felt anonymous, or they could perceive of others in ways that made them less than human, as enemies or objects. In a world where polarization, conflict, and violence are becoming more dangerous it is crucial that we understand certain truths about ourselves.
We are incompletely evolved mammals, and along with our appendix and coccyx we have a vestigial bias towards negativity and violence. What to do? Dr. Zimbardo describes his “Heroic Imagination” Project, which has the goal of training people how to be “heros” around the globe.
The HIP education programs prepare heroes in training for everyday heroic action. This is achieved by educating participants directly about their own psychology and teaching how they can master social and situational forces as well as their automatic human tendencies in order to act in ways that are kind, prosocial, and even heroic.
You will also hear a portion of Dr. Miller’s program, Awakening The Leader Within.

The Magic of Silence, a conversation with ex-Carmelite nun Kimberly Braun
Light as a spring breeze and sweet as the call of a morning dove, Kimberly floated out to California to pay me a visit, and the result was this show.
In it we explore natural spirituality, the power, purpose, and value of silence, the role of the still, small voice within. Awakened at the age of 5 to a profound inner sense of peace, Kimberly was led to become a Carmelite nun, spending most of her time in silence and in chanting. Soon she felt called to leave the monastery and enter the seminary for a graduate degree in the psycho spiritual development. Soon she had her own company and became a highly sought-after speaker and retreat leader.
Together we discuss the extreme importance of silence, commitment, and love from a spiritual as well as from a practical perspective. Today’s show is a followup to our first conversation, “The Essence of Meditation and Spiritual Freedom,” and we end with Kimberly demonstrating the chants she spent 10 years chanting in a Carmelite monastery.
Relax and open your mind and heart to this remarkable spirit.

Embracing the End of Life: A Conversation with Patt Lind-Kyle
Listen to this episode about embracing the end-of-life? Our natural reaction is to quickly flip to another page. But not so fast.
In our culture we deny what we don’t understand, and nowhere is this more obvious than in how we deal with yes and dying. We try very hard to pretend that it doesn’t exist, when our pretensions break down we do everything we can to delay death even if it means it living in a hospital bed with seven tubes entering and leaving our bodies, Then when it happens we’re all shocked and ripped apart.
One’s life changes when one begins to realize the death is a part of life– that in fact yes didn’t exist until life invented it!
Let me introduce you to Patt Lind-Kyle, a longtime friend of mine, who has boldly gone where a few have been willing to go, And has written an intensely needed book, Embracing the End of Life: A Journey into Dying and Awakening. In this conversation you will learn much about Pat’s incredible journey, her long periods of silence and meditation, in some of her remarkable discoveries about how we can learn from and have our lives profoundly enriched through following this entertaining and easy to read roadmap. Patt was trained as a hospice volunteer and served patients in the Hospice Hospital of Portland, OR and Hospice of the Foothills in CA. Patt confronted the deep fear of her own death in a long meditation retreat. This experience launched a study of the dying process in preparation for her own death (although she is in no way on the verge of leaving us), and by developing personal exploratory practices about death, Patt has defined the step by step process of dying including legal, caregiving and awakening processes. Have a listen…you won’t be disappointed.

Larger Than Life, Liberal Arts Educations and Global Leadership~ A Conversation with Kirby Talley
Dr. Miller takes a different approach with this show and explores a presentation by a college colleague, Kirby Talley. This episode addresses some of the biggest questions in our lives–even some questions that are Larger Than Life! In this very highly experiential presentation we will touch on life, and how we got to where we are, personally as well as nationally and globally. Will talk a bit about death, eternity, the deterioration of higher education into vocational training, the co-opting of our culture by high tech hucksters, and they’re kind of leadership that we now need–one that is based on deeper values, a meaningful mission, collective intelligence, and collective wisdom. This show is different from the usual and Conversations in that the guest is not physically present; instead, it features Dr. Miller reading and adding to a talk given by Kirby, who attended Trinity College with Dr. Miller and gave a talk at their 50th class reunion. Impressed by what he heard, Doctor Miller asked if he could edit some of his own thoughts into this talk and present it along with guided imagery and music. The guided imagery is woven throughout the presentation in order to allow a deeper understanding of the ideas and principles offered. “What struck me is, that also our paths in life has been extremely different, some of our viewpoints and conclusions are remarkably similar. I think you will enjoy this somewhat experimental presentation.”

How to Create Conversations that Matter with Juanita Brown Ph.D
Juanita Brown Ph.D. with her partner, David Isaacs is the co-originator of The World Café, a pioneering approach to large scale dialogue and collaborative inquiry being used in corporate, community, government, education, and multi-stakeholder settings around the globe. Hundreds of thousands of people on six continents have experienced the World Café to foster sustainable development, responsible business futures, conflict resol…ution, democratic leadership, and local community engagement around critical issues. Her award-winning book, The World Café: Shaping our Futures through Conversations that Matter, co-authored with her partner David Isaacs and the World Café
Community has been translated into 10 languages, and has recently been released in mainland China.
Juanita developed her belief in the power of conversation and community to shape the future through her early years at the Na-Bolom Institute, a center for dialogue and action on indigenous issues and rainforest preservation in Chiapas, Mexico. Juanita was also a key architect in large-scale community development and outreach work with Cesar Chavez and the farm workers movement. She has applied her discoveries about the principles for building engaged communities to the co-evolution of the World Café as social innovation––using both living systems approaches and community development sensibilities to engage a growing global network of multi-generational hosts committed to creating collaborative dialogue and committed action around critical local, national and global issues.
Since 1974, Juanita has collaborated as a strategic thinking partner with senior corporate executives as well as non-profit leaders in the U.S., Latin America, Canada, Europe and the Pacific Rim, advising on large scale change intiatives and creating innovative forums for strategic dialogue around critical organizational and societal issues. Juanita is a Fellow of the World Business Academy and has served as a Senior Affiliate with both the MIT Center for Organizational Learning (now the Society for Organizational Learning) and the Institute for the Future. Her greatest joy, however, is when she finds herself alone in nature on the shores of Tomales Bay, California listening to the loons and seeing the white pelicans floating quietly through the mist.
