Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #569 is an hour of visionary acoustic improvised music played by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, crystal bowl, acoustic guitar 4-and 8 string ukuleles and mandolin, Craig Harris on Native drum and congas and Bob Sherwood on piano. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in March of 2024, today’s show begins with the gentle, soft-spoken “Resonation” featuring fine Native flute work and vocal from Mariam before easing into the mystical, minimalist “Ice Storm”, a frosty, agreeably brittle song that illustrates its subject with a series of musical metaphors. “I Was Wondering” is a country rock classic from Mariam’s “Smooth Sailin’ Love Songs” and “Arise” is an inspiring, prayerful, upbeat track from the “Release” album, rendered with fine energy and emotion on today’s show. “I’m The Full Moon” and “I Am The Mother Earth” are energized, intense readings of the “Gaea Star Goddesses” and “Vision Quest” albums and “Find The Way” is an affecting, pretty track led by Mariam’s chiming ukulele and inspiring lyric. “Pretty Birds” is a gorgeous, spacious ballad built on Craig’s loping congas and Mariam’s tight acoustic guitar and “Twin Flames” is a deep, mystical, intergalactic love song from the “Smooth Sailin’ Love Songs“ presented with intensity and fine work from the ensemble. We conclude today with the long-form “Serving Eternally Surrounded By Sweet Serenity”, a gorgeous exploration that unfolds in a series of languid, rich movements.
