Special: Integrating Different Healing Modalities in a Clinical Setting And Qigong Sensory Training Massage for Autistic Kids Our Practitioner Guest: Maria Broderick is a Harvard-trained developmental psychologist and a state licensed practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Massachusetts. She is currently a member of the faculty of the New England School of Acupuncture and previously served as a lecturer on the faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Maria is a credentialed provider at Boston Medical Center, where she supervises interns in pediatric and adolescent acupuncture services. In 2008, Maria first learned about Qigong Sensory Training (QST) for Autism and invited Dr. Louisa Silva, QSTI founder and lead researcher, to Massachusetts to learn the therapy directly from her. Currently Dr. Broderick is one of few Master Trainers nationwide and the only Master Trainer on the East Coast. She serves on the Board of the Qigong Sensory Training Institute and is dedicated to disseminating the power of this approach to parents and providers. She has collaborated with Dr. Silva on articles and presentations related to QST. Maria holds a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture and a Doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. Maria’s work in QST is informed by prior work she has done conducting research on the efficacy of holistic approaches to promoting health and well-being at Harvard’s Mind/Body Medical Institute, at Boston area hospitals and research centers, and at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she was appointed a post-doctoral fellow. While a graduate student in Oriental medicine, she received a Schweitzer Fellowship. She remains a Schweitzer Fellow for Life.
