Singing the Soul Awake: Creativity, Mindfulness, and Conscious Living
On Friends with the World, host Michelle Villegas welcomes Lise Villeneuve—mindfulness educator, author, and former singer-songwriter—for an inspiring conversation about creativity as a pathway to awakening and embodied presence.
Lise shares her journey from international music performer to creating mindful stories and programs for children and families. Drawing from her background in psychology and lifelong spiritual inquiry, she reflects on how music first became a doorway to self-discovery, and how motherhood later inspired her to translate spiritual wisdom into accessible, heart-centered storytelling.
Together, Michelle and Lise explore embodiment as a spiritual practice, and how creativity opens a doorway to the higher self. Lise speaks about her books Conscious Kids and Unplugging from the Game, which invite readers to remember their true essence beyond thoughts, emotions, and identity.
The conversation also touches on collective awakening, the importance of spiritual community, and the healing power of living from the heart. This episode is a tender reminder that through presence, playfulness, and compassion, we each contribute to a more conscious and loving world.
Bio:
Lise Villeneuve is a French-Canadian author and a distinctive voice in mindfulness and transformational storytelling. Her books invite readers of all ages to reconnect with inner wisdom and live with greater presence, compassion, and freedom.
She is the author of Unplugging from the Game: Remembering the Real You—endorsed by Suzanne Giesemann, Dr. Sue Morter, Mary O’Malley, and Marci Shimoff—as well as Conscious Kids with Wise Willy, Awakening One, and Little Soul Playing a Role.
Lise holds an Honours Degree in Psychology and is certified as a Reiki Master and Health & Wellness Coach. Her work bridges emotional intelligence, conscious living, and spirituality in an accessible, grounded way.
Before turning to spiritual writing, she built an international career as a singer-songwriter. In 2003, she won the Charles Trenet Trophy in Paris, leading to a Canadian-embassy-sponsored tour across Asia and the Middle East. This artistic foundation continues to shape her writing through its poetic tone and emotional depth.
Across all her creations, Lise is guided by a clear purpose: to help people awaken to their true power through presence, awareness, and creative service. www.consciouslivingsolutions.com

The Loneliness of Grief and How Community Helps Us Heal with Jennifer Newberg
If you value stories that are raw, honest, and unedited, this episode will stop you in your tracks.
This week on Look for the Good, join me for a deeply moving and nakedly candid conversation with Jennifer Newberg, founder of It’s Lifey and HopeHub. Jennifer shares the life-altering moment that unfolded on what was supposed to be her dream trip to Greece—an unwanted surprise that changed everything and forever reshaped her world.
If you’ve ever experienced the gut-wrenching grief of losing someone you love, you will feel this conversation deep in your bones. Jen speaks honestly about how loss doesn’t just break your heart—it can sideswipe your nervous system, leaving you feeling isolated, disoriented, and painfully alone.
And yet, this is also a story of hope.
In the tender aftermath of her own loss, Jen found a way to transform her pain into purpose. She created a powerful community for widows who have lost their person—to help them find their people. What emerged is a reminder that even in the deepest grief, connection is possible, healing can begin, and you don’t have to grieve in silence.
This is a special, soulful episode—one that may change the way you think about loss, loneliness, and the quiet strength found in community. Don’t miss this heartfelt conversation on Look for the Good.
What Listeners Will Walk Away With
A deeper understanding of how grief and loss impact the nervous system—and why loneliness after loss is so common
Permission to grieve honestly, without shame or silence
Inspiration for turning pain into purpose and finding connection when life feels unrecognizable

This episode is for anyone who knows something is off when the work gets done but the joy is gone.
In Episode 6, Verta and Naa make the case for joy as a real metric, not a soft add-on or a vibes-only bonus. They unpack why joy has been squeezed out of so many workplaces and lives, and what it costs us when productivity is the only acceptable emotion.
From the difference between happiness and joy, to who actually gets permission to be joyful, they explore how creativity, laughter, and delight are not distractions but essential indicators of wellness. At work and beyond. They also talk honestly about burnout, overfunctioning, and what it takes to build lives where joy is part of the infrastructure, not the reward at the end.
Because you can’t track joy in Jira. But you can always feel when it’s gone.

In Plain Sight with Mark Hulsewe Filmmaker, Speaker, and Advocate
Scarlett’s guest is Mark Hulsewe—a filmmaker, speaker, and advocate who is working to change the way we think about bullying, violence, and school safety. Drawing from his own lived experience as a victim of bullying, Mark focuses on proactive, human-centered solutions. He speaks about leadership, empathy, and practical frameworks like the HERO Protocol, which aim to rewire how schools and communities respond to pain—before it turns into harm.
Mark is the creator of the short film In Plain Sight, which has been recognized at film festivals for its powerful storytelling and its unflinching look at the human cost of bullying. He is also a TEDx speaker, known for his talk “The Great Rescue: Ending School Shootings,” where he explores how violence is often the tragic downstream effect of unresolved pain, exclusion, and bullying—and how prevention is possible.
Mark’s work asks an important and hopeful question: What if preventing violence isn’t about fear and force, but about connection, compassion, and courageous leadership?

Nature as Teacher: Stories and Reflections from Nature Journaling
with Wendy Nadherny Fachon, Environmental Educator and Spiritual Storywalker
Poet Williams Wordsworth is noted for saying, “Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.” He regarded Nature as a living personality (spelled with a capital N) and presumed there is a divine spirit in all objects of Nature. He believed Nature's supernatural intellect could teach one how to live a spiritual life.
Nature's lessons are subtle, so in order to derive the most benefit from Nature's wisdom, it is necessary for us humans to slow down, pay attention, and take time to reflect. In this episode, Wendy shares two bird watching stories from her Nature Journal, makes meaning from these stories, and leaves listeners with some life lessons and food for further thought. Birds have long been regarded as messengers, heralds, and symbols of profound meaning for thousands of years among many cultures. The observation of bird behavior can help children grasp spiritual concepts. Flight becomes a metaphor for freedom, transcendence and heaven. This episode is a sound journey full of story, reflection, interpretation, poetry and song.
