Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #609 is another hour of creative, dynamic improvised acoustic music played by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, Andean flute, 4- and 8-string ukuleles, acoustic guitar and dulcimer, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in late February of 2025, today’s show begins with the jazzy “Every Moment”, a driving song with imaginative piano statements and a powerful vocal from Mariam. “Open To Your Spirit” is a beautifully dualistic piece that combines a jazz rock motif with a slyly entering classical motif, another beautiful vocal from Mariam and interpolations of her evocative Andean flute along with driving congas from Craig and modern, minimalist piano work from Bob. The piece winds out with a series of playful classical motifs before leading into “Gather Together”, a beautifully austere song from the “Release” album that evokes giant spaces and human unity. “Joyful Union With All Beings” is a powerful, powerfully stated song calling for human connectedness and empowerment in troubling times and “One More Day”, also from Mariam’s “Release” LP is presented as a peaceful, pretty folk ballad driven by Mariam’s lyrical vocal and chiming 8-string ukulele with hints of reggae above Craig’s powerful Native drum heartbeat pulse. We complete today’s show with two more of Mariam’s classic numbers, the island folk rocker “Pele” from the “Gaea Star Goddesses” LP and the bucolic, beautifully pagan forest prayer “Spirit Of The Forest”.

In 1988, Jane was named co-anchor of “Today in New York,” a position she held until 2003 when she became the station’s primary anchor for local programming and the host of “Jane’s New York”; She covered events ranging from the tragedy of 9/11 to the joy of Yankees victory parades to Wall Street and Washington; has interviewed presidents, business magnates, prisoners, and celebrities; traveled as far as the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and the great depths miles below New York City for her special reports. Most recently she hosted a daily entertainment and lifestyle program, New York Live, for NBC4 in New York City.
Jane has won 9 Emmy Awards. In addition, she was named Correspondent of the Year by New York’s Police Detectives and received a similar honor from New York’s Firefighters. She has also been the recipient of numerous other awards for her service to the community. Jane has served as the March of Dimes Walk-America Chairman, honorary chair for the Susan B. Komen Foundation’s Race for the Cure, and as a board member of Graham Windham, Phipps Houses, the Randall’s Island Sports Foundation, the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, and Telecare. She has taught courses on communication at Long Island University, Stern College, and the 92nd Street Y. Hanson is a Past President of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Bit of the story from Vanessa: “Growing up as the first in our family to be born with 50% Cherokee blood line, having a father who was full blood and a mother who was not part of the Cherokee Nation. Raised in poverty in rural Oklahoma, spending a lifetime with mental health struggles, trauma, abandonment issues, many failed suicide attempts, gender identity, and a 30 year battle with substance addiction that led me to a 10 year prison sentence where my recovery journey truly began. I have worked in the treatment and recovery industry since 2021 and am passionate about bringing awareness and change to our community by helping stop stigma, providing a greater connection of available resources to those in need while showing the world the power of stepping out of the shadows and letting our voices shine. I live my life as a proud survivor who recovers out loud for myself and my community!”
Vanessa (she/they) proudly identifies as being a transgender female who is extremely active in her long-term sustained recovery. Vanessa is the Director of Community Connections for Advocates for Recovery Colorado,  and is on the board of directors for Colorado Artists in Recovery. Vanessa is a passionate advocate for both the Recovery and LGBTQ+ communities, a public figure and speaker, a performer, and a person committed to maintaining a consistent state of positive change for herself and her community.

Douglas Grunther Talks About The Quantum & the Dream
Our guest today is Douglas Grunther, whose deep spiritual seeking has been sparked with humor and informed by his love of philosophy and his deep study of psychology. Douglas is the creator and host of the Woodstock Roundtable, which is billed as a rollicking and multi award-winning-radio talk show spiced with the visionaries of our time. Douglas Grunther graduated from Columbia University, where he was a Rhodes Scholarship finalist. He has been a featured speaker for national audiences, and he is a dreamwork facilitator certified by Dr. Jeremy Taylor, who is Co-Founder of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. Douglas tells that the term “synchronicity” was created by Carl Jung, who described it as two or more events which clearly didn’t cause one another, but are too meaningfully connected to be a mere coincidence. And his more poetic description of synchronicity is “a falling together in time.” He says, as we will see, that Jung collaborated with one of the most brilliant quantum physicists in the world; and together, they were convinced that synchronicities occur not just at the individual level, but at the deeper and more expansive level of a collective unconscious, one they are shared by all of humanity.
He says in the preface to his book, The Quantum & The Dream:  Visionary Consciousness, AI, and the New Renaissance that he will show us how this synchronicity generated two parallel, fascinating descents: one into the dark, creative center of the unconscious mind; the other into the dark, creative center of the sub-atomic quantum realm. And so, he says, “I invite you on a journey, Human Intelligence, Computer Intelligence, and the most influential of the three, Nature’s Intelligence—are creating evolutionary change.
