The Work That Reconnects and The Role of Conscious Elders
Carolyn and Molly Young Brown, co-author with Joanna Macy of Coming Back To Life: The Work That Reconnects talks about the role of conscious people and conscious elders in activism. Conscious activism compels us to ally with indigenous people and all oppressed beings and allow ourselves to be taught by them. Until we do so, we will only be an "I" and not a "we." In addition, we cannot be conscious activists unless we are willing to utilize our emotions as a doorway to more skillful activism. Working with our emotions deepens our connection with our allies and allows us to view our adversaries with respect, compassion, and discernment.

Meeting Your Wounded Parts in Your Heart
The wounded parts inside of you, which can show up as fear, shame, anger, resistance, despair, anxiety and confusion, are bound up energy that you absorbed from the adults around you when you were young. Because you oftentimes didn’t know what to do with what you were experiencing, you stuffed these parts deep inside of you and now they run you from underneath your everyday awareness. Listen to Mary as she shares ‘The Dog Story’ by Ann Weiser Cornell as a metaphor for these deeply wounded parts and how you can meet them in your heart. With curiosity and kindness, you discover how to say to whatever part is showing up, “I see you” and in that seeing, you can set your wounded parts free.

Shawna Fritzler ~ Support Jeffco Kids
With the elections looming, it feels like nobody out there cares about the truth, facts or collaborating in order to accomplish common goals. Everything is focused on the Nation, and how things will be drastically different if one candidate wins or loses. Contrary to popular belief, did you know that local politicians and local government agencies, such as school boards and county commissions have a much larger impact on our daily life? In fact, over the last several years there have been national special interest groups who run for local offices and boards, thereby politicizing entities that shouldn't be politicized. Several school boards across the country have recently had these "outsider, special interest" candidates elected onto their boards simply because the voting public was unaware of who they were and what they stood for.
This very thing happened to the Jefferson County Colorado School Board, but fortunately there were some alert, intelligent moms out there who took notice and decided to make a change. One of these women was Shawna Fritzler. When she kept hearing about how much money the schools wasted, she decided to get a copy of the budget and analyze it for herself. She was shocked to discover that money in fact was not being wasted, and to the contrary, the school district was grossly underfunded. This led her to challenge politicians on both sides of the aisle, challenging everyone to leave politics out of school funding and to base everything instead on what was best for students. It became her mission to read all the information on both sides of the issues, and to educate everyone she could about anything that had to do with the schools and children in general.
The American public school system is truly the first building block in our society. Without an educated population, a democracy cannot stand. Without education, mental health support, safely and nutrition, the United States cannot flourish, nor can it remain competitive globally. Because Shawna felt so strongly about this, she took matters into her own hands and created an organization called Support Jeffco Kids. This organization is a place where everyone who supports public education can gather, share facts, discuss ideas and work together for the common good of all students. Even though it focuses on Jefferson County Colorado, the issues faces are the same in every school district, anywhere in the United States.

Friday Oct 14, 2016
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #233 is an hour of duets, improvisations and songs by Mariam Massaro taped at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts and featuring Mariam on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar and sitar as well as Bob Sherwood from the Gaea Star Band on piano and percussion. Today’s first piece is Mariam’s “Great Changes” a hypnotic prayer in minor driven by Mariam’s poetry and acoustic guitar. “Sailing Wings” floats in on Mariam’s mournful flute and Bob’s circular piano and evolves into a lush, cinematic, celestial 25-minute excursion with “There You Are” and “Open Wide My Heart” woven into the mix. The next song, “Funny How Life Changes” is an expansive folk piece with a prayerful, gospel vibe and an assertive, rocking acoustic guitar and piano rhythm section. Mariam moves to the sitar for the first of today’s two ragas, the mystical “Feathers Of Life”. Joined by Bob first on tablas and then piano, Mariam delivers a mysterious lyric, alternating vocals and flowing native flute. “Spirit Of Rising” flows from the coda, a compelling, wide-screen raga featuring more fine native flute and vocals from Mariam.

Dr. Miguel Farias author of The Buddha Pill which questions both the efficacy and also highlights the darker side of the Mindfulness movement.
Miguel and Sheryl will explore the multi-dimensional aspects of life in both its physical and energetic components in the search for greater awareness of the human and divine matrix of possibilities for creation and evolution.
Miguel explores the human ambition for personal change and its possible illusions with a focus on yoga and meditation. The Buddha Pill is a balanced view of meditative techniques suggesting that personal chance affected by these spiritual practices vary widely from one individual to another and that peace and compassion touted by instructors may not always be the end result or may not be lasting.

Excuse Me Doctor! I've Got What?- Taking Ownership of Your Health- A Conversation with Melissa Clarke MD
Melissa Clarke is a practicing physician who has studied acupuncture, been dean of a medical school, and has written a book that should be on everybody’s bookshelf. It’s entitled: Excuse Me Doctor! I’ve Got What? – Taking Ownership Of Your Health And Making Healthcare Reform Work For You.
In this interview, you will discover a bright, compassionate, well-spoken physician who sincerely believes in her work. You’ll learn of Dr. Clarke’s experience with our pathetic medical system: when her father became ill, and the inadequacy evidence by the slowness of making the diagnosis, reactions to medications, etc., and will soon understand something of what inspired her to take a deeper look at what’s going on.
Dr. Clarke will share her personal story with us, and the personal challenge of doing something about the “Passive Patient Syndrome” in her efforts to create “Empowered Patients.”
In this extremely informative and practical interview, we will address the problem of there being so many different practitioners – allopaths, osteopaths, naturopaths, homeopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and so forth. Dr. Clarke offers an excellent way to decide when faced with the question: “I’ve got a new problem . . . where do I start?”
“Healthcare is the last frontier of consumerism,” says Dr. Clarke. In every other area, we are informed consumers. Before we buy a TV, refrigerator, or car, we take the time to do research, and we ask the right questions, compare, decide, and negotiate, but when people enter the medical system, they rarely think in this way. Dr. Clarke’s suggestions are excellent.
What you will find especially interesting is our discussion of the 5 questions you must always put to your healthcare provider.
