HOUR 1
Happy, Bright, Calm Nutrition for Your Emotions -Carolyn Dean MD ND
Stress is a response to circumstances which force a person to act quickly, change, or make some adjustment to keep things in balance. The circumstance which forces a person to act is called a stressor. Stress is also defined as intense feelings created by the stimulus of certain events. When a person is stressed, his/her body automatically jumps into an action which is called a fight or flight response. Stress is further defined as an emotional and physical provocation caused by pressure from a given situation. The good news is that everybody faces stress to a certain extent and it is normal to be stressed since we are living in a world full of challenges. Stress causes our bodies to respond quickly and automatically jump into a defensive mode. It is quite normal to fight the stressor, or try to ignore it.
When we are stressed, our bodies immediately respond to the stressors by telling our nervous systems and stress hormones that it is time to act. When we face a threatening situation, our hypothalamus informs the adrenal glands to produce the hormones, adrenaline, and cortisol, and release them into the bloodstream. Adrenaline pumps you up but experiments using IV adrenaline show that it decreases magnesium as well as calcium, potassium, and sodium. Proving that when you are in a revved-up state and burning adrenaline, you are also burning off magnesium.
There are more than a dozen major metabolic processes that are affected by bursts of adrenaline, including heart rate, blood pressure, blood vessel constriction, and contraction of all muscles, including the heart. Thus, we feel palpitations, shortness of breath, and we may experience high blood pressure. All these symptoms are the body’s reaction to stress. In order to fight or flee, our blood vessels open wide, thus allowing more blood to flow to the muscles and stored glucose from the liver pours into the blood stream for extra energy. And, of course, each of these functions uses up extra vitamins and minerals.
Anxiety can occur as a result of this outpouring of adrenaline. It can also be created when fear is present – fears stemming from predictable or unpredictable situations, which may be real or imaginary. Anxiety is a common human emotion, part and parcel of our everyday life. Anxiety is about worries, concerns, nervousness, and stress. In fact, to feel anxious occasionally is fine because it prepares us to be ready for actual challenges. But persistent and prolonged stress that creates anxiety is extremely draining – especially when a doctor tries to treat it with medication instead of magnesium and stress counseling.
Yes, one powerful, positive response to protecting your heart and mind from excessive and overwhelming stress is appropriate nutritional support.
If your stress, anxiety, or panic is rooted in a nutritional deficiency, good news is coming your way. Dr. Carolyn Dean, author of The Magnesium Miracle [2017 Edition] knows that nutritional supplementation is a safe, effective solution to support the total well-being of the body and balance the fight or flight response to stress and anxiety. Consistent, daily use of highly absorbed minerals and food-based vitamins are clinically shown to induce a feeling of calm and wellness as your nutritionally depleted body experiences relief.
Tonight on Dr. Carolyn Dean LIVE we’re going to talk with our listeners about stress – panic – and anxiety – all the forms and ways it finds you and what strategies you can employ to smooth out your experience and live a lighter, brighter experience. You will love hearing the beneficial interactions with callers and hosts alike including the body/mind connection, identifying the ‘conflict’ in the ‘conflict basis’ of disease, and much more!!

If you yourself are unable to make the show, you have the option to email us and have your question or comment included in our MailBag Segment. Soul Story: Paul Dunion - Author, Philosopher, Psychotherapist, & "Eclectic Mystic”
Join us as we sit down with Paul Dunion - Author, Philosopher, Psychotherapist, & "Eclectic Mystic" to discuss his books, the future of the human race, and healing.
Paul Dunion is a healer, teacher, author, and an “Eclectic Mystic”, committed to remaining mindful of life as a mysterious and unpredictable journey. He offers individual and couples sessions, group supervision for psychotherapists, consultants, and coaches, and seminars aimed at deepening our capacity to receive the mystery of life and to travel our unique path. Paul approaches his work with deep compassion, a wide and deep heart for each of his clients, a gentle spirit, and a playful sense of humor.
Often described as an eclectic mystic, Paul teaches how to make peace with the unknown. He focuses on what it means to be on the descended path, characterized as a commitment to accountability, carrying one’s truth with compassion, and viewing life as a path to personal discovery. Committed to a Socratic method of teaching, Paul’s intention is to serve as a muse, awakening the truths that live in his students.
A steadfast believer in the power of community, in 1992 Paul founded Boys to Men, a mentoring program for teenage boys in Norwich, Connecticut, and COMEGA, the semi-annual Connecticut Men’s Gathering, now in its 30th year of service. In 2013 Paul created and established The Croton Mystery School, to assist others in crafting a devotion to living in unity with life. Paul currently is a Senior Faculty with Mobius Executive Leadership and taught at Mobius’ Next Practice Institute in 2019. He also offers customized Leadership Immersions globally.
Storytelling, speaking, and writing are some of Paul’s strongest gifts. He is a regular contributor to Medium.com. To date, he has published five books. His next book is Wisdom: Apprenticing to the Unknown and Befriending Fate scheduled for publication in 2021.
Paul believes that our primary spiritual task is learning how our wills can dance rhythmically with fate — creating our own destiny. From his own waltz, Paul writes:
“I have discovered just how challenging it is to commit to authentic individuating where we access the courage and resourcefulness needed to honor the uniqueness of our own depths, discovering how we are called to serve.
I believe that the most authentic way to represent myself is by describing what and whom I love. I love cycling, playing tennis, and hanging out at the beach. At the beach, I love eating breakfast with Connie, talking, swimming, walking, reading, writing, and napping. The beach is extremely restorative for me. I’ve been a gym rat since I was eight years old. I love helping build genuine expressions of community where people are comfortable being authentic, compassionate, creative, and generative. I love being a husband, not in some conventional way, but because I am deeply grateful to be joined in learning so much about human relationships. I love participating in the deepening of a marriage where I am asked to honor the diversity of two unique souls. I remain appreciative of the opportunity to learn how to love and be loved. I love writing, especially when the words tell a story about the beauty, wonder, and challenge of being fully alive. I am deeply fond of teaching with the use of stories and facilitating healing that supports folks to step into a larger story, living with more integrity and compassion. I continue to be deeply touched by the soul work of men. Lastly, I certainly experience an endearment with our Golden Retriever BoBo who is a loyal companion and whose penetrating eye contact suggests something other than canine obedience.”

Sex, Pleasure, and Intimacy After Infidelity & Betrayal – with Azaria Menezes
Sex, pleasure, and intimacy don’t have to be hard. Even post-betrayal it is possible to feel connected, turned on, and radiant. Whether you are struggling with hysterical bonding, revenge cheating, a desire to move on, or feel like you never want to be intimate with anyone ever again, this episode will help. No matter what you are going
through or what is holding you back, sexual energy and expression is profoundly healing and deeply pleasurable.
Top take-a-ways:
What self-love really means, and how to keep showing up for the parts of you that you would rather push away so you can find healing and fulfillment in even the most difficult of experiences.
Being in relationship with your body and building up the trust that was broken through infidelity, betrayal, or other types of sexual abuse and trauma.
Why getting comfortable experiencing and expressing a full range of emotions helps you complete stress cycles, process emotion fully, and feel better fast.
How learning to your desires and getting to know your turn ons, and turn offs has nothing to do with physicality, and how the practice of taking five seconds to listen to your body before any intimacy leads to deeper satisfaction and a healthier relationship with yourself and others.
Azaria Menezes is a sex, intimacy and relationship coach who supports women, moms and couples in their journey to feeling empowered in love, re-discover their exquisite pleasure and explore true intimacy.
Although she grew up having a well-rounded awareness of sexuality and bodies and was pretty comfortable talking about it with friends who would often ask her for advice, like so many of us, she never really knew what it meant to relate deeply with a partner, what it meant to embrace pleasure fully in her own body, or to state her desires in an empowered and healthy way.
As a survivor of sexual abuse, trauma, PTSD, and anxiety she went through a time of being destructive with her life, pushing partners away when things would get too intimate and feeling disconnected with her body during sex. She would avoid anything that made her feel vulnerable or any other feelings for that matter. But it was also these experiences that led her to the journey of showing up for herself, to sit with hard feelings like shame and fear, to heal her nervous system, surrender to real intimacy, and fully find her body and pleasure in a way that felt empowering!

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro

Friday Aug 27, 2021
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #456 is an hour of visionary acoustic improv music recorded by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, ukuelele, acoustic guitar and dulcimer, Craig Harris on congas and native drums and Bob Sherwood on piano. Recorded on a lush August afternoon at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s show begins with the dreamy, sedate “Thank You For The Joy”, a drifting, lovely thing led by Mariam’s pretty stream-of-consciousness lyric and languid vocal. “Carry On” follows with a native flute fanfare from Mariam and evolves into a hushed, meditative piece and “Happy Times” is a summer celebration led by Mariam’s chiming ukulele draped on a bluesy piano bassline from Bob. Mariam continues strumming her ukulele for “Come Into My Heart”, a simple folk song that quickly evolves in a lovely, minimalist prayer with entrance of Bob’s beautiful piano motif and Craig’s round, steady congas. Mariam picks up her dulcimer for the next two pieces, the gorgeous, detailed “Blessed By Our Life” and the ragaesque “Treasures To Behold”. We finish today with a spirited reading of Mariam’s classic “I Was Wondering” from the 2012 CD “Smooth Sailin’ Love Songs”.

Healing From Within with Sheryl Glick

Sheryl Glick host of Healing From Within Interviews Zen Honeycutt Executive Director of Moms across America on how to ensure our food is free of contaminant. Zen Honeycutt will share how to ensure our food is free from contaminants. As the world population has soared water and food sources must be protected and improved. Our current agrochemical food system allows hundreds of millions of pounds of glyphosate herbicides to be sprayed on our food crops every year. These herbicides have been found to contain heavy metals such as arsenic. Is there another ways to protect the crops without using these contaminants? We can and must avoid toxic baby foods and find the best foods for babies and young children Avoid rice is at the top of the list because it has extremely high concentrations of inorganic arsenic. Arsenic is a natural element found in soil, water and air. Because rice is grown submersed in water, it is especially good at absorbing inorganic arsenic, the most toxic form. Because the milling process used to create white rice removes the outer layers, where much of the arsenic concentrates, white rice has less arsenic than brown and wild rice…https://www.momsacrossamerica.com/about_us/
